(trailer review) - Riders of Justice

There are not many people who enjoy or watch foreign or subtitle films.  I'm not claiming to be one of them but I'm not put-off by them at all, but in truth, I would prefer a non-subtitled movie as I'm a slow reader...lol.  With that said, the more you watch subtitled movies, sometimes you can get the gist and the story just by the body language and the performances without having to know each word said and it can be somewhat refreshing an experience.

This trailer for example, from the visuals alone, you can tell this man is looking for something/someone, possibly out for revenge and it is due to an incident on a train involving his family.  This trailer looks good as well as having some great comedic moments and Mads is a great actor.  I've never really known him from anything really, other than Doctor Strange and Star Wars: Rogue One, but a lot of people know who he is.  It is also nice to see an English speaking actor doing other work in a different language, Danish.  I'd like to see another trailer for this but it does seem like it has everything I'd want from it so far.

Directed by Anders Thomas Jensen and starring Mads Mikkelsen, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Andrea Heick Gadeberg, Lars Brygmann and Nicolas Bro.

(trailer review) - The Tomorrow War

The music is pants! The music provides a level of epicness but it doesn't do enough for the trailer because the trailer is too short and the epicness is not felt. 50 seconds!  Yes it is a teaser trailer but, maybe with the official trailer, Amazon will have me fully involved with the quality music providing that necessary umph we need.

The film looks good. Mankind travelling to the future to fight a war with an unknown alien species...sounds wild. Would be even more wild if the unknown alien species came from further in the future and were humans that had turned into what they are and have to travel back in time to try and stop it from happening but end up in a war...lol. Either way, colour me intrigued. Besides, who doesn't like Pratt?

Directed by Chris McKay and starring Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, J. K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin, Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Mathews, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Sam Richardson & Keith Powers

(trailer review) - Luca

First of all, there was a teaser trailer for this not soo long ago and for whatever reason, I didn't review it! I specifically remember telling myself that I must review it, because I saw it, but I guess among many distractions or simply because the trailer  didn't grab me, I didn't end up doing it. With that said, it goes without saying that I liked this one, right?

This trailer had me anxious though. Two fishmen, mermen maybe? want to experience life on land than their natural habitat, the sea and they meet a girl and go on an adventure of sorts? Who knows until the next trailer is dropped, but I kept thinking throughout this trailer, theses guys are going to get caught which left me a little on edge. They are by the sea and any type of water makes them change! ...let's just hope things do not get too intense and start sweating. It looks decent. I'm up for it!

Directed by Enrico Casarosa and starring Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Marco Barricelli, Saverio Raimondo, Maya Rudolph & Jim Gaffigan

(trailer review) - Werewolves Within

Can we just come to an agreement that Sam Richardson looks very similar to David Oyelowo or am I alone on this island of mine.  Anyway, Ubisoft are known to me by their computer games, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Rayman, Assassin's Creed, but movies is a new thing for them and that's very interesting.  They previously did the Assassin's Creed film for $130 million and it grossed $240.7 million which isn't bad at all, but the film was known to be trash. This on the other hand looks pretty decent and might actually do what it says on the tin, well.

From the trailer, I get a Knives Out feel, low budget but quirky comedy horror that is shot very well even though the story might be lacking.  A small town with outrageous characters who seem to be friendly and fun and a Werewolf that seems to be lurking among them.  Plus the music is great as it slowly builds towards the end.

Directed by Josh Ruben and starring Sam Richardson, Milana Vayntrub, George Basil, Sarah Burns, Catherine Curtin, Michael Chernus, Wayne Duvall, Harvey Guillén, Rebecca Henderson, Cheyenne Jackson, Michaela Watkins & Glenn Fleshler

(trailer review) - West Side Story

When I was watching this trailer, I was thinking to myself, "what was the last Spielberg movie I have seen?" and I came to the conclusion that it was Ready Player One.  That movie came out in 2018 and I really enjoyed that movie and now that it is on Netflix, I've put it on a few times since.  I also wondered what the last sing-song movie was I watched and I'm not actually sure as I'm not heavily into musicals.  It might have been Blue Story if I'm honest and that was really good.  As for West Side Story, I have not seen the original although I have heard great things.  Considering Spielberg does not flop much, I imagine this to be a really good movie.

I like this trailer, a lot.  The imagery.  The shots.  I really like the two groups walking towards each other creating those shadows.  The colours are sooo vibrant and the bit where you see the women in yellow running in the streets look great.  I think another trailer will fully sell me on it, but so far, I am interested.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, Ana Isabelle, Corey Stoll, Brian d'Arcy James & Rita Moreno

(film review) - Mortal Kombat

It's interesting, I am a "gamer" (I say that loosely because trying to find time to play games is limited) and when I can, I'll turn on the ol' Xbox and play something.  I remember my first console in fact, it was a Nintendo and I could see the console's box through the Argos bag my mum was carrying as it was a birthday present.  I was sooo happy.  I remember when I first played Mortal Kombat for the first time.  I'm pretty sure I bought it first hand (as I did buy a lot of second hand games when I was younger) and I thought the game looked a little weird.  The graphics were nothing like anything I'd seen in a fighting game before, but eventually, after Mortal Kombat II and Mortal Kombat 3, I was slightly, a fan...but I did prefer Street Fighter.  You see back then, it was either Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat (because there always has to be a one or the other with these things, you know...lol), but I never really got into the lore of MK although I really enjoyed the fatalities, secret characters and the gore.  Up to this day, Mortal Kombat is still going and we are on Mortal Kombat 11 in 2021.  I've not played it and I am not in a rush to either.  This movie, apparently the writer and director wanted to give the fans what they desire from a Mortal Kombat movie as the 1995 guilty pleasure version is, well...ok at best but didn't really go into the lore.  But does this one? Well...

Mortal Kombat centres around a character named Cole (absent from the games) who is a MMA fighter who finds himself unwittingly caught up in a fight between the Earthrealm and Netherrealm.  Special Forces Major Jax and Sonya Blade are tracking down a Tournament called Mortal Kombat when they find Cole and with the help of Kano venture to Netherrealm to meet Raiden the God of Thunder to help him defeat the Soul Eating Shang Tsung.

All I ever really wanted from this movie was characters, fighting, fatalities and a few laughs and while I'd agree, I am only partially the demographic this film is aimed at, in fact I am fully the demographic it is aimed at (I am just not that interested in the story), I'd like to say I had fun with this movie because it gave me exactly what I wanted.  Without going into too much spoilers, a lot of the original characters are there, whilst other characters are hinted at for future instalments.  The beginning fight with Hanzo and Bi-Han is great and quite impactful, however the character who stole the movie in every scene was Kano.  By far, the most redeeming thing about the movie and why the movie is soo entertaining.  Although I have heard other viewers and likely, fans claim the film is terrible, rubbish or trash, I'd like to say, there are a multitude of reasons as to why this is and why they may also feel this way.  The story is rushed and poorly executed.  Another 20 minutes to 30 minutes could really help this movie with pace, fleshing out the characters and the story.  The dialogue is clunky and definitely not the best.  Some of the acting is wooden and personally, I felt they could have had more canon fodder so we could see more fatalities and fight scenes.  The special effects is ok at best and whilst the fight scenes were cool, this movie could have easily have been The Raid meets Lord of the Rings...ok, maybe not Lord of the Rings but something a little fantasy-like with grittier fight scenes.  This film is lacking a few things, but for me, does just enough for it to work.  First time Director Simon McQuoid didn't do too bad on his first outing, but possibly with some assistance in future, could pull out something a lot better than this one, although this one isn't terrible.

The film is a fun mess and while I'd say nothing to write home about, chances are, you would actually like to write home and tell your family and friends that the movie isn't that great, but you are intrigued to see more and actually want more.  Lets hope we do get more, aye.

(series review) [STREAMING] - The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

If you haven't watched my reviews of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier LEGEND trailers, I will give you a small brief of the two main characters.  The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are both Captain America's friend from two different times in history.  The Winter Soldier dates back to when Steve Rogers first joined the Army and The Falcon dates back to when Steve Rogers first becomes a Avenger.  At the end of the movie Avenger's Endgame [
SPOILER ALERT!!!] Steve Rogers gives Sam Wilson his iconic Shield...and from that point, this is where the shows pics up from.

This is essentially a 6 hour movie broken down into episodic chunks that picks up after the events of Endgame and where having now come back, fighting a huge war, the mourning of the loss of a friend/teammate, The Avengers have essentially disbanded and The Falcon is back in the Army on special missions.  Sam Wilson, now with Captain America's shield believes the only way to honour Steve Rogers and the Shield is to hand it to the Smithsonian to be apart of the Captain America Exhibit.  While this seems to be a great idea at first and the Government are all for it, but it doesn't take the Government long to appoint a new Captain America, shield and all.

The Winter Soldier, post the events of Endgame has been pardoned conditionally by the government and can live out a somewhat normal life.  He is seeking counselling as part of his pardon and is trying to make amends where he can.  But after having seen a new Captain America appointed, James 'Bucky' Barnes makes contact with Sam with grievances as to why he would "simply" give up the Shield which is now in the hands of John Walker the new Captain America.  This confrontation leads them on the trail to "terrorists", people with supersoldier-like abilities who call themselves The Flag Smashers.  In a confrontation with The Flag Smashes, the New Captain America and his "side-kick" Lemar Hoskins aka Battlestar joins the fight which leads to him stepping on toes.  As the show goes on with both Sam and Bucky trying to figure out the mystery of where the serums are coming from to make super powered individuals, leads them to characters like Zemo, The Powerbroker, Isiah Bradley and the many secrets behind the actions of the government and what it means to be Captain America and to hold the shield.  All this is compounded with the Flag Smashers actions and threats headed by their leader Karli Morgenthau.  Chosen by Steve Rogers for a reason, can Sam do what it takes?

This show, although it was meant to be the first TV series out of the gate last year until the pandemic hit forcing Disney to restructure the show's plot and their TV shows, Wandavison came out first.  I'm not sure if this was a stroke of genius or the only card Disney could play but during a pandemic, Wandavision was a breath of fresh air.  Wandavision has or at least, seems to have had a better track-record with audience participation due to the sheer quality and delivery of the show.  The show was brilliant keeping us guessing from episode to episode, everybody was Mephisto!  That does not mean The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is rubbish or pales in comparison, it just means that TFATWS delivers the classic and already tried and tested Marvel formula with added grit and touching topics a Marvel movie may briefly skim the surface of.  The show is deep rooted in comic book history as well as real life history while it touches on racism in America and some might argue, today's Black Lives Matter movement, although I don't subscribe to that as I believe it touches on racism as a whole and how we view people.  It touches on what we deem as politics with labelling issues we do not wish to address and shove under the rug with labelling, how people see the government, how the government see people and how certain people see people.  The show is very very layered touching on these themes which I'd only like to hope will help open the eyes of the viewers and real life events and situations the plague our society now.  The Irony I saw in this show comes with comments such as "TFATWS is too political" in which I would question that statement with, "what makes the show political for you?"  There is a speech near the end of the show, slightly heavy handed in it's delivery but touches on the very nature of people's thoughts on matters they do not wish to go into and discuss.  Labelling something political doesn't make it political, it makes it an issue and something you are not willing to address and stay ignorant to, that doesn't make the problem/issue magically go away.

Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan as James Barnes are both excellent in this. The pair do a lot of acting without even saying a word and whilst there are some very very powerful scenes, the quiet moments or quiet storytelling and the comradery between them help deliver such a bromance we saw glimpses of in Captain America: Civil War.  Daniel Bruhl's character as Zemo is somewhat a scene stealer whenever he pops up, but if there was anyone who deserves as much credit as Anthony and Sebastian, is Wyatt Russell as John Walker.  This is also a story for John Walker as well as Sam and without going into spoilers, seeing more of John as the show goes on and how time will go on, will be great because the evolution of his character and how he is portrayed is like watching a train-wreck.  Erin Kellyman, although somewhat typecast is also great, but it would have been nice to see or understand a bit more of her backstory as it seems elements were cut due to the 2020 pandemic and shifting part of the narrative.  There are action scenes a plenty, but from the introduction of The Powerbroker, wondering who that person was, was a weekly guess, but we are talking about a buddy cop superhero action adventure soaked in espionage, so it would be nice to se if we could see a lot these characters return at some point and that Mephisto is in fact, the Powerbroker.

(trailer review) - The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

It's funny.  I'm not someone who could be easily scared, frightened or startled and for the most part, I'll watch scary movies, but I do draw the line at some things.  Possession movies and ones based on a true story.  If it has harpy-music, you can drop me right out, I'm not a fan, but other than that, I'm pretty much cool with most.  I have Paranormal Activity on this site and I also have IT, Carrie, Wolfman and Friend Request, so I'm not that bad, but I do not run out in a hurry wanting to see them like I would with a sci-fi or comic book movie.  With that said, this trailer looks wild!!!

I've been meaning to take on The Conjuring when it came out in 2013 and the sequels since so this one, the third likes really good to me.  The parts in the trailer I liked the most was the intro as it brings intrigue, but the part with the water bed and the child, the part in the woods with the woman, the part with the little boy unfolding himself and the end part with the cliff.  Although there is possession involved in this, I don't believe it based on real life possessions so I might be cool with it.  Another trailer might sell or might not sell me more.

Directed by Michael Chaves and starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ruairi O'Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook & Julian Hilliard

(trailer review) - Mortal Kombat

Red Band Trailer - Please note adult themed material.

(Official Trailer) Red Band Trailer

Let's have a moment to fully digest this trailer.

It is the opening 7 minutes to a film, just like what they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where that was 5 minutes they released before the movie.  In Mortal Kombat lore, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are two mortal enemies that have had beef for centuries and I'm not sure how it started or the reasons as to why man would just turn up at your home like that ending your bloodline, killing your wife and child, but I understand.

Imagine being moments away and hearing the screams of your wife only to run back and find her and your son dead knowing maybe you could have saved them you are likely going to go to town murdering them all until you get to Boss Man himself, Sub-Zero.

Yeaaaaah, I'm watching this. That's all.

(trailer review) - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Disney are simply killing it.  Quality after quality after quality.  And in this case diversity.  Just like Black Panther was with an all Black cast bar a couple non-black, this seems to be the same and right in my wheel house! Are you mad?!!! Martial Arts movies!!!

Martial arts movies and 'House of Flying Daggers' jumping/flying through the air and the wind blowing through the clothes sound, I'm soo on board.  I had no clue what this film was going to be like as we were told, some kind of tournament and like an authentic martial arts movie...and they don't seem to be lying.  This is just the teaser, so I can't wait to see the official trailer as that is going to be bonkers, I can feel it.

(trailer review) - The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

(Red Band Teaser) Red Band Trailer - Please note adult themed material.

(Teaser Trailer)

Is it wild of me to think that Red Band trailers are now the new craze? I feel like I haven't seen one in soo long and in the space of a few weeks, there has been three! This isn't a complaint at all, I don't mind them, it just feels new.

However, unlike The Suicide Squad trailer, this trailer isn't drastically different from the other trailer as it shows a few more bits and introduces the swearing rather than allude to it in places, so I wasn't really wow'ed by the trailer at all.  I do feel that maybe this trailer should have came first if they were going to do a red band one because this one is somewhat lacklustre.  At least The Suicide Squad gave us a completely different trailer for both their red band and non-red band trailer.  I'm just saying it didn't move the needle for me much at all.  In fact, it might have moved it slightly negatively.  I don't know what it is but I now think they are trying too hard to sell it.  We will see.

(trailer review) - Fast and Furious 9

(Official Trailer 2)

(Full Trailer)

(Teaser Trailer)

WOW, just WOW!!! It is possible, that a film which was meant to come out last year and people were hyped about it until they pushed it an entire year, it would seem as though the studio decided to "go ham" and actually put EVERYTHING in the trailer.  In my last review I said, "I mean, ok, they don't seem to be going to space like everyone thought, but what did they NOT put in this trailer!"  But hold up, it looks like they ARE going to space and they have actually put EVERYTHING in the trailer...Han as well.

I'm actually lost for words, really I am.  And it's not because they've put everything in this trailer, but how long is this movie? Magnetic cars, Flying Cars and a guy's body getting wrapped around a tree.  For a while the F&F franchise has been playing into it's craziness for a minute, but damn, have they gone too far?  To be honest, it's fast cars, brawls and the odd "INSERT GENRE HERE" because the series has evolved from simply racing cars, but if you are looking for this kind of thing or at least what they have been coming up with over the last 10 years, then here you go, seal with a kiss or high five!  I'm definitely watching it!

Directed by Justin Lin and starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Michael Rooker

(trailer review) - Army of the Dead

(Official Teaser)

"Let's see another trailer, but I'm definitely in."  That was the last thing I said when I was reviewing the teaser trailer and here we are, another trailer and this trailer is good!

It seems to me we get a better understanding of what is going on here.  Some ex-soldiers are pulled together to do a casino heist during some kind of pandemic (maybe), but then he crew are met with intelligent zombies and they will need to fight their way through the hundreds of thousands of zombies to escape with the money and their lives.  Sign me up because this looks fun.  The part where he is trying to swing at the zombie and the zombie is dodging the punches, wow!
To be honest you had me at Zack Snyder, so it would be interesting to see the reception this Netflix movie gets as it seems Zacks name is very hot topic right now and WB are acting out!

Directed By Zack Snyder and starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Tig Notaro, Huma Qureshi, Garret Dillahunt, Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Matthias Schweighöfer

(trailer review) - The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

First of all, the name of this is stupid, but considering how comical this film seems to be AND like the original (or first one, The Hitman's Bodyguard), we are obviously going with the same comedic capers with Ryan's character as before.

The premise of this is funny.  The Hitman's Bodyguard is assigned unwillingly to protect the wife of the hitman, becoming her bodyguard to help save the hitman whilst trying to refrain from shooting, killing or doing anything he would normally do as a bodyguard, "No Guns, No Killing and No Blood".  Suffering from some type of PTSD and stress from his job as a hitman, antics ensue...lol.  "A child would be soo happy to have you as it's host" LOL! I'm definitely interested especially as the first one was decent too.

Directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Frank Grillo, Richard E. Grant, Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman

(trailer review) - The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

(Mid-Season Trailer)

(Friends Trailer)

(Final Trailer)

(Exclusive Clip)

(Official Trailer)

(First Look Trailer)

As a Hip-Hop fan and how hyped this trailer got me (not like I'm not already watching the show), the quote "Now I got you gassed on super unleaded fuels" - Busta Rhymes, comes to mind.

I wasn't going to keep doing trailer reviews for the same content, I wasn't.  I thought, 3-4 MAX because maybe people wouldn't want to read what I'm thinking when I see yet another trailer for the same show, but Disney...Disney have me beat.

Having been watching The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, although it has some quiet moments, the action is great and very high octane.  This trailer is definitely explosive and packs enough action and content without spoiling "much" to get you interested in watching this show if you haven't already.  If you are not big on the Superhero stuff but liked Black Panther, there is a reason to watch it.  If you want to see who the new Captain America is, there is a reason to watch it.  If you like Spy-Espionage, Buddy Comedy, Action Adventure, it is ALL there.  The only thing that isn't here (and we have two episodes left) is romance and we could still get that, maybe.  When I saw this trailer, I thought, damn! This show is great, I can't wait to watch some more, but there is only two episodes left!

I'm jealous of you if you plan to binge watch!

(series review) [STREAMING] - Marvel Studios: Legends - "Sharon Carter"

These short reels are 6-7 minutes of excellent footage and storytelling.

Please note: this review may have mild spoilers as this docuseries acts as a "catch-up", reminder and/or telling of a characters' inception in the Marvel Cinematic Universe up until now in phase 4 collated in 6-7 minutes.

In case you haven't seen a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie before, any or a couple, this is 7 glorious minutes cleverly cut from multiple films that act as a highlight reel of a character's journey or backstory through the MCU into Phase 4.  Extremely important if you want to learn about a character before heading into DisneyPlus's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, starring The Falcon and The Winter Soldier with supporting cast.

Being the niece of the legendary S.H.I.E.L.D Agent, Agent Peggy Carter, is possibly the reason why Sharon ended up living a double life as Kate, Steve Roger's neighbour and Agent 13 of the S.H.E.I.L.D  Special Service team only known to those close to Nick Fury, assigned to watch over Steve.  When Nick Fury was assassinated and Alexandra Pierce put out a manhunt for Captain America, Sharon stood by Steve's side and assisted him and The Falcon in taking down Hydra.  When a Civil War broke out between the Avengers, Although, now with the C.I.A Sharon sided with Captain America but had to go into hiding due to helping him.

These 7 minutes are a collection of clips, but if you were to get the backstory so far surrounding this character and all the events that lead up to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, you must watch Captain America: The First Avenger Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Captain America: Civil War.

This is an excellent recap for both fans and newbies alike.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier picks up after these events.

(trailer review) - Jupiter's Legacy

Netflix seem to be gearing up to fight.  They have their Vaseline out, their spit bucket ready and these quick jabs and uppercuts for their warm-up is an obvious nod to them stating, they have been here, they were here and they are not going down without a fight.  "What do you mean?" I hear you ask.  Well, Netflix IS king of the digital streaming services (according to Tom's guide) and right behind it is HBO Max and Disney Plus, with them launching 27th May 2020 and 12th November 2019 respectively.  But being soo long in the game and also having "borrowed" or "rented" content over the years, especially from Disney and these have now been taken back, Netflix are forced to provide more original content and Jupiter's Legacy is just that.

While we are being over saturated with Superhero shows, this genre is what people want to watch, like Amazon's The Boys or Disney Plus' new MCU TV content.  And although the Mouse house has very deep pockets and are throwing out some jabs and haymakers, Netflix are standing firm as this trailer looks great.  Yes the special effects are not Disney Quality and the style isn't as gritty as The Boys, but as long as the show delivers 'Umbrella Academy quality', I can see this series doing very well, especially as it was written by Mark Miller, the man behind The Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kick-Ass among many others.  Fun fact, Steven S. DeKnight was behind the Netflix MCU series Dare Devil, Smallville, Angel AND the film Pacific Rim: Uprising - the show has a lot of promise.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade & Matt Lanter.

(trailer review) - Those who wish me Dead

I don't know what it is, but for whatever reasons, I thought Angelina Jolie was no longer acting or doing a film a year or something.  I have no idea why I thought that, but seeing her here was quite refreshing if I'm honest.  I'm looking forward to the MCU's Eternals movie with her and Jon Snow.  I'm just sat here like everyone else waiting patiently for a trailer. Patiently waiting patiently.

However, this trailer looks good.  The cast is incredible, from Nicholas Hoult, Jon Bernthal, Tyler Perry and Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish, I mean Aidan Gillen.  I have no idea what it is about other than, forest fires, it seems and that people are out to kill a little boy.  Seemed a little boring at first but the suspense and survival thriller of it all grabbed me immediately.  Besides, the director Taylor Sheridan is the writer behind Sicario, Hell or High Water, Sicario: Day of the Soldado and the up and coming Michael B. Jordan movie, Without Remorse and that looks great!  Also night to see Tyler Perry acting from time to time too.

Directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen, Finn Little, Jon Bernthal & Tyler Perry

(trailer review) - Ghostbusters: Afterlife

(Official Trailer)

I feel like 17 trailers came out in the last two days and I'm out here like a Ghostbuster trying to catch these slippery things.  All jokes aside, I saw thumbnails for this clip and I thought it was an actual trailer, but it's a clip with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in it and the first thing I thought was..."wow, that's clever...they found a way to make even more toys out of the Ghostbusters franchise".  It reminded me of Minions, from the movie Despicable Me, because anything PG means toy sales, you know? Or maybe you didn't, so if that is the case, the very reason characters in a franchise get new uniforms (think Avengers), is to sell toy figures.  I'm not mad at it, make that money.  However, these Marshmallow men are cute and the bit of them cooking themselves are hilarious.  Now I want a toasted marshmallow, subliminal messaging? What would also be genius, is if they sold them at the theatres/cinemas, special packs to consume while you enjoy the movie.  Anyway, this looks decent and the original trailer that came out LAST YEAR, was also decent and if I remember correctly, filled me with joy because...if done correctly, this film will definitely be a lot of fun.  And of course, those Marsmellows are going to sell as quickly as Baby "Yodas".  Well played!

Directed by Jason Reitman and starring Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd

(trailer review) - Loki

(Exclusive Clip)

We are currently sitting on another trailer for what some might argue, the most anticipated show from the MCU.  It wasn't long ago when I said, there wasn't anybody who was excited for the WandaVision TV show.  I'd say (only due to the action), that there were a considerable amount of people who were excited for 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' TV show, but Loki is such a beloved character!  His interactions with Thor and his interactions with others are hilarious.  Such an untrustworthy and mischievous person, fans simply love to hate this character, so having his own show, is something to grant Loki fans some more Loki and rejoice in happiness.

This trailer looks great though!  I feel the first teaser trailer popped for me just a little bit more than this one, but I liked this trailer simply because it showed a bit more of what is going on (the story element) and what will will be getting and of course, Gugu Mbatha-Raw from the Black Mirror episode 'San Junipero' and Wunmi Mosaku also from a Black Mirror episode 'Playtest' (with the new Captain America Wyatt Russell) but 'Lovecraft Country' is where I definitely recognised her from and the TV show Luther.  Talking about Luther, she was in the Ultimate Edition of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Such great actors and guess what, they are both British - so is Tom!  Disney know exactly how to cast their talent (from black mirror episodes?  Letitia Wright and Daniel Kaluuya) and with that said, so far, Kevin Feige seems to be doing an excellent job because that manic and chaotic energy that Loki brings seems to translate very well to this TV show.  As The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has 3 more episodes left, we will just need to wait and see if this Loki show hits like WandaVision did, but judging from this trailer, it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.

Directed by Kate Herron and starring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw & Wunmi Mosaku

(trailer review) - The Suicide Squad

(Red Band TrailerRed Band Trailer - Please note adult themed material.

So this is officially the first trailer...officially!
The one before was a Red Band Trailer which means, not for kiddies. Blood, gore, profanity etc and this one is absent of all of that.  This one is the Rebellion Trailer and it's good!

Amanda Waller is back with her squad of people she will send out there to do something very dangerous as they are seen as expendable people and if I'm honest, this trailer looks infinitely better than the other Suicide Squad film.  With the addition of Idris Elba, John Cena and Sylvester Stallone is enough to have me running to the cinema to watch, not to mention, directed by James Gunn of Guardian's of the Galaxy fame from the MCU, just...don't sit too close and we can all enjoy the film together.  This year is gonna be stacked and with great content.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney and Peter Capaldi

(trailer review) - Space Jam: A New Legacy

As I type this and think about if I have watched the Michael Jordan Space Jam movie from back in the day, I struggle to come up with an answer.  I definitely feel like I have, but we are talking about a film from 1996 and it is very possible that, I just didn't care for it.  What I do remember from that time and surrounding that film, was the "Hit 'em High (The Monstars' Anthem)" a song by B-Real, Busta Rhymes, Coolio, LL Cool J and Method Man, and the double Grammy winning song "I Believe I Can Fly" by the man who shall not be named.  That song is soo well known and IS a great song, but I am a Hip-Hop guy, anyway, moving on.  So, I can't really speak to how great or not-so-great that movie was beacause I simply don't remember it, but this trailer did in fact make me smile by the end.

Your favourite Looney Tunes from WB are back including Lola Bunny, but this trailer definitely gave me a 'Ready Player One' feel with all the different Hanna-Barbera characters because who knew, they became a subsidiary of Warner Bros. in 1996, but it was good to see some of those characters.  It looks like LeBron James aka King James will be teaching his son about focusing on something you love and not letting anyone stop you from getting to your dreams...wild guess, but who cares, I think I need another trailer, or maybe a "rewatch of the first one" to get the feel of that movie and watch this trailer again.
I'm not really a Basketball person as much now that I am older compared tow hen I was younger and I don't really care for LeBron although I am aware he is a great Basketballer.  It would be interesting to see where they go with this and take this franchise in the future, because...we are talking 25 years for a sequel and very recently we had Coming to America who also had a sequel after 33 years and look how that turned out - I kinda liked it, but, yeah...I wrote about it.  Let's see another trailer!  I'm interested because Ryan Coogler is a producer, but I would be more interested if they did a Hit 'em High part 2 (or whatever) as all those rappers are still alive...plus the video was GREAT!!!

Directed By Malcolm D. Lee and starring LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, Cedric Joe, Jeff Bergman & Eric Bauza

(trailer review) - Black Widow

(New Trailer)

(Final Trailer)

(Big Game Spot Trailer)

(Original Trailer)

About a year ago or so, we were given a trailer for the second movie in phase 4.  Arguably a movie we possibly should have had several years ago about Black Widow but I guess, after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it would be interesting to to know or get to know a bit of her backstory and if there is anything else story-wise that will carry forward in the franchise and to also push the story along.

So considering the pandemic has delayed this movie a year and Disney has got the ball rolling with 'WandaVision' and now 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier', it seems the cogs are turning and there is no stopping the machine that will make or are trying to make the millions and billions it was making before the worldwide pandemic hit.

This trailer has a lot of new scenes and surprisingly enough, still doesn't give away much of the storyline although it has been a year of predictions.

Directed by Cate Shortland and starring Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Rachel Weisz & Florence Pugh

(film review) [STREAMING] - Raya and the Last Dragon

Pronounced "Rye-ah".  I had been calling it Ray-Ah because, well I'm English and I say things the wrong way all the time because, English...lol.  Anyway, when I saw this trailer, I thought to myself, "I haven't seen a decent cartoon movie from Disney in a little while".  It would have been Toy Story 4 but the last Disney cartoon movie I watched was Soul... and before that, The Lion King then Toy Story 4.  But although I really enjoyed Soul, I feel I had a slightly better time with Toy Story 4 because I knew the characters, the story was great and it has stuck with me since seeing it, as in, it is more memorable and funny.  It was just a great cartoon.  Considering Toy Story has been going on for years, it really hasn't lost it's step.  With Soul, although I enjoyed the story and the meaning, it was really good, but seeing a black guy as a cat through majority of the film couldn't let me resonate with it as much as I would have liked to looking back at it now, since I have watched it a few times, but still a really good movie, just hasn't stuck with me as much as it perhaps, should have.  The Lion King, well...it was the Lion King.  Raya, when it was finished, although the story was great but the meaning was a little wishy-washy for me, I understood ultimately the message and this movie was really good.

Raya (Kelly Marie Tran) belongs to one of five tribes that live in a land called Kumandra.  These tribes have been at war for centuries after an event that left them in a power struggle.  Raya believes a magical orb is the solution to peace, so she goes on a quest to seek out Sisu (Awkwafina) The Last Dragon in an bid to try and bring the tribes together and restore peace.

If I say anything more, I would spoil moments of the movie, however, I really enjoyed this movie, a lot.  Maybe I'm forcing myself to like it more because I got it under Disney Premier Access, but no, I really did enjoy it.  I felt the animation was amazing, but at this rate, from when they have made animated Lions, Tigers and Bears, oh my, look amazingly real, then this was nothing in the grand scheme of things.  The characters looked great and I remember noting from the trailers, the skin on these characters were soo smooth and somewhat "plastic-like" but also real?  I can't really put my finger on it but the colours for the skin tones and the lighting were just great.  I also adored the depth of view, like what our camera's do now, you know, portrait mode when the background is blurry.  Soo effective.  Talking about depth, I felt the story was serviceable but it lacked just a little bit of depth, like the quest felt short.  I felt like it didn't feel epic enough or that it took years to get to where we are, although it is heavily implied.  I also felt that we could have had more epic fight scenes.  Maybe because I am a huge fan of Eastern Culture such as Samurai's and warriors of that sort, I believe it would have went a long way if we had just more epic fights like the kinds you see in 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' or 'Hero', you know? Mulan is not on this list because I keep falling asleep.  I must get back to it though.

The characters and the voice acting was great.  I feel Kelly Marie Tran did a great job, although I hear she wasn't the original person for the role.  For some reason, I don't believe I have actually heard Awkwafina speak, or at least I know her name than her voice, I actually though she sounded more like Natasha Lyonne, but she did really good in her role as Sisu The Last Dragon.  Some other characters such as the con-baby (as stated in the trailers) and essentially Raya's nemesis were great characters and I loved the battle of two people desperately wanting to be friends, but because they are of opposing tribes, they can't and don't trust each other due to generations and generations of civil unrest, a little like Romeo and Juliet.  You know, create your own path, don't let your parents or the generations before dictate your future.  That could have actually have been the message here as I think about it.

What I will definitely say is, this film would have been great to watch in the cinema and get that cinema experience.  It deserved a big screen, it deserves them booming speakers and a nice comfortable sitting arrangement and snacks, but I guess two out of four isn't terrible at all, plus you don't have to travel home...

Pay that premier price, it's definitely worth it.

(series review) [STREAMING] - Marvel Studios: Legends - "Zemo"

Helmut Zemo was a family man who lived in and was the colonel of an elite Sokovian Commando Unit in Sokovia.  When Ultron tried to take over the world, The Avengers along with their two new twin recruits Wanda Maximoff and Pietro Maximoff, fought Ultron and his Ultron Bots and the Avengers "Successfully" destroy the floating city of Sokovia before an Extinction Level Event is carried out.  However, upon destroying the city, Zemo's family died as a result of collateral damage and Zemo seeks to put an end to all heroes.  Zemo enacts a plan of obtaining The Winter Soldier to cause an international incident that would pit The Avengers against each other causing a Civil War, but when the dust settles, The Black Panther finds Zemo who makes an attempt to end his own life.  Zemo is placed into solitary confinement.

These 7 minutes are a collection of clips, but if you were to get the backstory so far surrounding this character and all the events that lead up to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, you must watch Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War.

This is an excellent recap for both fans and newbies alike.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier picks up after these events.

(trailer review) - Wrath of Man

I had no idea whatsoever that man like Guy Ritchie was doing another movie that was NOT 'Man from U.N.C.L.E' or 'Sherlock Holmes 3'.  That said, I had a gander on Wikipedia and he is actually filming another movie currently called 'Five Eyes'.  Talk about being busy!  The last movie I saw of his was 'The Gentleman' and that was a great movie, I loved it, a wonderful return to form.  Before that was Aladdin and I enjoyed that too, so let's hope Guy is back in his stride of directing top notch films and hopefully he will get back to the first two films I mentioned.

As for this trailer, I really enjoyed it and although there wasn't really much to it than Jason Statham going around shooting people and either killing or incapacitating them with one bullet, this revenge quest might be generic, but it's Jason Statham, you know.  This is John Wick with a child, no? Sometimes the simplest formula can be the best and it does help having a great Director on form like Guy Ritchie.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and Starring Jason, Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, Raúl Castillo, DeObia Oparei, Eddie Marsan & Scott Eastwood
