(trailer review) - Alien: Romulus

It must have been my cousin that introduced me to the Alien franchise. He was two years older than me so things I was not allowed to watch, he could do ultimately I watched them off the back of him. He had Predator on VHS, Rambo and I am sure he also had an Alien film on VHS. If he didn't, I know I still do. I have the Box set with Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. The best Alien movies are definitely the ones from the "80's", Alien, a horror and Aliens the amazing sequel and sci-fi action horror. Whilst the other films such as Prometheus and Alien: Covenant has not done much to bring us back to the glory days of the first two Alien movies, it does seem as though, Romulus will.

This trailer is creepy, atmospheric and chilling. Adding the torch behind the back to light up the torso is genius. That moment looks amazing. The camera angles, the set designs, not to mention, the "beating" going throughout the first half of the trailer IS in fact, the emergence of the chestbuster! Wow! This movie could crash and burn but it seems like Fede Alvarez knows what he is doing with this one and maybe, just maybe he can "take over" or continue the Alien franchise because if this is anywhere near as good as it looks, they WILL ask him to do more and maybe he can "bridge" the gaps in this franchise because I do not think Ridley is up to the task anymore if I am being honest. Great director, but he has not done much for this franchise in a while (or any other work, but that is open to discussion for another time)....time to pass the torch, but let's keep that torch well lit.
