(trailer review) - Jupiter's Legacy

Netflix seem to be gearing up to fight.  They have their Vaseline out, their spit bucket ready and these quick jabs and uppercuts for their warm-up is an obvious nod to them stating, they have been here, they were here and they are not going down without a fight.  "What do you mean?" I hear you ask.  Well, Netflix IS king of the digital streaming services (according to Tom's guide) and right behind it is HBO Max and Disney Plus, with them launching 27th May 2020 and 12th November 2019 respectively.  But being soo long in the game and also having "borrowed" or "rented" content over the years, especially from Disney and these have now been taken back, Netflix are forced to provide more original content and Jupiter's Legacy is just that.

While we are being over saturated with Superhero shows, this genre is what people want to watch, like Amazon's The Boys or Disney Plus' new MCU TV content.  And although the Mouse house has very deep pockets and are throwing out some jabs and haymakers, Netflix are standing firm as this trailer looks great.  Yes the special effects are not Disney Quality and the style isn't as gritty as The Boys, but as long as the show delivers 'Umbrella Academy quality', I can see this series doing very well, especially as it was written by Mark Miller, the man behind The Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kick-Ass among many others.  Fun fact, Steven S. DeKnight was behind the Netflix MCU series Dare Devil, Smallville, Angel AND the film Pacific Rim: Uprising - the show has a lot of promise.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade & Matt Lanter.

(trailer review) - Those who wish me Dead

I don't know what it is, but for whatever reasons, I thought Angelina Jolie was no longer acting or doing a film a year or something.  I have no idea why I thought that, but seeing her here was quite refreshing if I'm honest.  I'm looking forward to the MCU's Eternals movie with her and Jon Snow.  I'm just sat here like everyone else waiting patiently for a trailer. Patiently waiting patiently.

However, this trailer looks good.  The cast is incredible, from Nicholas Hoult, Jon Bernthal, Tyler Perry and Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish, I mean Aidan Gillen.  I have no idea what it is about other than, forest fires, it seems and that people are out to kill a little boy.  Seemed a little boring at first but the suspense and survival thriller of it all grabbed me immediately.  Besides, the director Taylor Sheridan is the writer behind Sicario, Hell or High Water, Sicario: Day of the Soldado and the up and coming Michael B. Jordan movie, Without Remorse and that looks great!  Also night to see Tyler Perry acting from time to time too.

Directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen, Finn Little, Jon Bernthal & Tyler Perry

(trailer review) - Ghostbusters: Afterlife

(Official Trailer)

I feel like 17 trailers came out in the last two days and I'm out here like a Ghostbuster trying to catch these slippery things.  All jokes aside, I saw thumbnails for this clip and I thought it was an actual trailer, but it's a clip with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in it and the first thing I thought was..."wow, that's clever...they found a way to make even more toys out of the Ghostbusters franchise".  It reminded me of Minions, from the movie Despicable Me, because anything PG means toy sales, you know? Or maybe you didn't, so if that is the case, the very reason characters in a franchise get new uniforms (think Avengers), is to sell toy figures.  I'm not mad at it, make that money.  However, these Marshmallow men are cute and the bit of them cooking themselves are hilarious.  Now I want a toasted marshmallow, subliminal messaging? What would also be genius, is if they sold them at the theatres/cinemas, special packs to consume while you enjoy the movie.  Anyway, this looks decent and the original trailer that came out LAST YEAR, was also decent and if I remember correctly, filled me with joy because...if done correctly, this film will definitely be a lot of fun.  And of course, those Marsmellows are going to sell as quickly as Baby "Yodas".  Well played!

Directed by Jason Reitman and starring Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd
