It has been a while since I had watched the first season and if I am honest, I was completely void of all the little occurrences, the little moments and scenes that really made this show pop for me. I couldn't remember how it ended and how it all started, so in the last few days, I have binge-watched the entirety of the first season and I cannot stress that the re-watch of the entire season was great and very much needed. On a side note referring to the last season, I just need to say, Paddy Considine was amazing. So if we have more scenes between these great characters, great dialogue, shocking unpredictable moments and tension you need to cut with a guillotine, then this season will go down very well.
I am definitely more up-to-speed and ready for this new season. But is this season any good? Definitely!
The last season ended tragically, so we picked up immediately where we left off, albeit a few hours later. One of Rhaenyra's children is in the North, her cousin is out patrolling and her husband Daemon seeks revenge. The King's hand (his grandad) and his mother plot strategies while his brother Aemond continues to plot with Ser Criston as he still seeks revenge for the loss of his eye.
This show has levels. The scheming, the plotting, the backstabbing and the tiny moments where love is shown between two characters that hate each other. Everyone is watching, everyone is listening and who do you really trust? The best moment for me in this episode was everything to do with Rhaenyra in it. The cliffside, the beach, the scene with one of her sons and the strategy room. I believe she had only one line in the entire episode and she killed it. Phenomenal actress. Saying soo much without saying anything. Face acting delivering emotions you can feel and if you can remember or had seen the first season recently, simply heart-breaking. How the episode ends, is the third domino to fall. The next episode could not come any quicker.
