(trailer review) - The Odyssey

When I was younger, it was Steven Spielberg. Growing up, it may have been Michael Bay. But for the last decade and a half, it had been Christopher Nolan. This guy does not miss. An Intellectual and visionary director where (bar two, maybe three of his movies, I have not seen) he will get you to watch a movie and think about it due to the storyline, the mechanics of the movie and the sheer concept. Dunkirk, the storyline. Tenet, the mechanics. Inception, the concept (although Tenet falls into that also). I remember one of the last things my cousins said to me regarding Christopher Nolan was, "This guy loves play with time!" and it is true. The way he tells a story does not always seem to be linear in a tradtional way. Even with Oppenhiemer, the story was told from points of view going backwards and forwards in time with current day to the past and he won an Oscar for it. The great Odyssey, a story known to many (and in this instance, not me as I probably read or learnt of this story in school), this will be a film that could earn him more bums in seats after that oscar, and maybe another. I mean the trailer looks superb.

The trailer starts off with, what looks like a graveyard to fallen soldiers who have died in battle, and then the coolest armour design ever of some poor guys spine attached to the helmet of some superior commanding officer or just one bad ass bloke with a velvet cloak. I mean the other guy kneels down and kisses the ring doesnt he? Well it looks as such. The narration over this part of the trailer explains "aftrr years of war, no one coulf stand between my men and home, not even me" as he walks theoigh the forest. And there is a shot of Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway. There are shots of a ship that looks incredible in the natural light and one with the sunlight behind it. A shot with what looks like 100 men erecting some sort of statue or pillar (actually it looks like a horse) and the moment that got me to rewind a couple of times (and I am not 100% sure as im going off of memory alone), but what could be the Trojan Horse, there is a bunch of men gathered in what looks like a small confined area, and a sword comes piercing through slicing a man's shoulder/back whilst other men cover his mouth to stop him from screaming in pain is a moment we know will be very tension filled. Then a shot of men going into a cave and some creature coming out of the shadows and you can see in the light, its silhouette which looks huge in size, men running towards ships, men in the mist or early morning where something comes out of the ground and is defintely massive in size, a storm at sea with men rowing in treacherous conditions with water filling the ships and it ends with "Promise me you'll come back" "What if I can't?". This is a teaser trailer to let us know, this film is coming. Not what it is about or who is in it, but for tone and awareness. Chef's kiss! T
