(trailer review) - Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

A trailer for this came out not that long ago and although, in a few places, it was funny-ish, I was not really on board with what they were pushing. However, this trailer is soo much better than the last one. You see, I was never interested in this movie because "where is Venger?" This Dungeons and Dragons, I do not know what it is. I never played the game and my only reference to anything to do with this namesake is the old cartoon from the 80s with Eric, Bobby, Diana and them. So, what is this?  But I must say, this trailer has won me over a little to be interested as I am loving a lot of the jokes, banter and humour within the film.

While I know nothing about this iteration of D&D or D&D as a whole, I did have a few laughs. Apparently, everything this film has shown us is accurately depicted in playing D&D. Chris Pine anchoring the movie down with various crazy characters, a wizard, a barbarian (almost like the cartoon) and maybe a witch? (the girl from Stranger Things, which also played a lot on D&D) this movie looks like it is very fantasy heavy, probably really expensive, but looks like it will be a lot of absolute fun. So despite not being exactly what I know or based on a cartoon with a bunch of kids going on a fairground ride and travelling through a portal to land in a different realm with all these things and a Dungeon Master, I guess I can still enjoy it...

Oh, and that short they do before a trailer starts to play, it is soo irritating and soo pre-pandemic.

WOW, just WOW!!! It is possible, that a film which was meant to come out last year and people were hyped about it until they pushed it an entire year, it would seem as though the studio decided to "go ham" and actually put EVERYTHING in the trailer.  In my last review I said, "I mean, ok, they don't seem to be going to space like everyone thought, but what did they NOT put in this trailer!"  But hold up, it looks like they ARE going to space and they have actually put EVERYTHING in the trailer...Han as well.

I'm actually lost for words, really I am.  And it's not because they've put everything in this trailer, but how long is this movie? Magnetic cars, Flying Cars and a guy's body getting wrapped around a tree.  For a while the F&F franchise has been playing into it's craziness for a minute, but damn, have they gone too far?  To be honest, it's fast cars, brawls and the odd "INSERT GENRE HERE" because the series has evolved from simply racing cars, but if you are looking for this kind of thing or at least what they have been coming up with over the last 10 years, then here you go, seal with a kiss or high five!  I'm definitely watching it!

(trailer review) - Fast & Furious 9

"My ass is in fuego!" Had to be the funniest line in the trailer and I don't even know what it means.
I mean, ok, they don't seem to be going to space like everyone thought, but what did they NOT put in this trailer! Because the entire Movie is in this trailer, EVERY action set-piece, the music changed 3 times, someone "catches" a car!

At some stage, Dom needs to say to someone, "I'm just a Mechanic" like Steven Seagall in Under Siege.  We understand the films get more rediculous as they go on, but...I...I don't know.  Have they taken it too far now? Although I'm sure many of you wanted to see how they get into space...but Dom is JUST a Mechanic, albeit, with skills in practically anything and everything.
*** #Spoilers *** but they bring back supposedly dead people, stealth planes are picking up cars mid-air with magnatism, cars are getting attached to cords strong enough to hold a moving car travelling with such velocity helping it to "fly", ok, swing and...I don't even know.  Maybe they have taken it too far.  But I'm still going to see it.  I still find it odd to tell a child whilst given them a necklace for protection, to say, "it's for what's coming"...ominus or what!? This film looks wild as hell and the fight scenes look great. A camera shot reminded me of Black Panther and/or Aquaman but I liked the usage... #sigh. Let's just hope the story is great.

(trailer review) - Fast & Furious 9

Can you believe we are on a Fast & Furious 9? Like, only last month we had a Star Wars 9 and that took how many years ? And the F&F franchise  did it in less for obvious reasons and for the most part, has been getting better and better as the years goes on as it has firmly cemented itself as an over the top, brash series centered around family with fast cars, "racing" and beists and  it does exactly what it says on the rin....and well.  They even had a spin-off which was just as good.

This trailer (more of a teaser clip) is more or less an announcement for the trailer and I'm already interested.
Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) now has a family, a little boy named Brian after his late best Friend, used to be cop and antagonist.  There is a passing of a Cross necklace and the worlds "...for protection for what's to come" (not verbatim). Who says that to a child? Absurdity will definitely endue in the most fun get ridiculous way when this film comes out.  And we will see that when the trailer finally drops.

The can only go to space, now...right?

(film review) - Fast & Furious 7

Fast and Furious 7. Yes, 7! There has been 7 films in vein of speedy cars, daring heists and street fights under the banner, 'Fast', 'Furious' or an amalgam of them both. And to think, who would have even thought this franchise would amount to 7 movies. I'm pretty sure Vincent didn't see this one coming. And having done all these films over a number of years, the stars who brought this together have grown a bond with one another, so with the passing of Paul Walker, mid - shoot, you can only imagine how special this film is to them and the many many fans who adore the franchise.
Where the director and studio were in two minds about cancelling the film altogether, they decided to go ahead and complete the movie after their short break and what we got, was a very entertaining and decent film.

Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family are attacked very close to home forcing him to retaliate against the previous movies antagonist's older brother Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) after their last family outing. He is a Ghost. You don't find him, he finds you. As the attack leaves a family member dead, Dom and the gang rally up to pull off a daring heist to capture the ghost and eliminate him with the help of Frank Petty (Kurt Russell) and Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson). Pretty straight forward, right? Yup, nothing more to it.

You couldn't have expected anything more or anything too intricate about FF7 as these films have never been story driven (No pun intended), as such. But, with that said, over the years, it hasn't always been about cars and car racing like how it was back in the day. With the seemingly seem less call back and inclusion of Tokyo Drift (a film everyone tries to forget) James Wan effortlessly makes the insertion of this bad egg film, seem somewhat noteworthy and gives it (partially - I might add) new life and credibility.

You get the same gimmicks from the previous two films (and why not, they have been killing it in the box office, right?), humour, insane and practically impossible feats and stunts, eye candy for men (if cars weren't enough, right?) and brawls like none other. Yes, there will be bits where you think, "Come off it", "Yep, that is some bullsh*t" and "No f*cking way is that possible", but it is all aprt of the F&F fun. Nothing too over the top (haha), as far as F&F goes and nothing too underwhelming. Fast Cars, Explosions, Comedy & Family.

However to some this film up. You get ultimately what you got in the previous outings but with the death of Paul Walker, they amicably weave his departure from the series nicely which doesn't capitalise or force the issue. A tribute, if you will, to a great character in a great series. Time for Fast And Furious...In space!
