(trailer review) - Army of the Dead

I've not seen a great amount of Zack Snyder's work.  I say that because I legit feel he has done a bunch of movies and I've seen just a few of them.  As I thought about the sentence you've just read, I looked up Zack's filmography and he has 17 films to his credit.  Six of those he has written or it was his story.  Four of those six, he has produced.  And three of that four I have seen.  Ok then.  So out of the initial six I mentioned that he has written, the 6th is this movie, the teaser trailer I'm reviewing, but he has directed two out that and I've seen those two.  So, I guess I'll start again.

I've not seen a great amount of Zack Snyder's work, so I had initially thought, but out of the 17 films to his credit, whether written produced or directed, I've seen 11, not to mention the 4 which are unreleased.  So, that's 11 out of 13!!! Believe me guys, I didn't realise I was such a fan of his work, like really, I actually did surprise myself.  But I say all that to say this, although I've mentioned before in my reviews that Zack is more style and cinematography over substance, that Zack (to me anyway) is a better Michael Bay than Michael Bay, I definitely could not have, nor see this trailer looking any other way than glorious!  The angles and visuals, the slow motion.  Zack knows how to bring you entertainment that just looks stunning and this is the reason why I watch all of his films (minus 2 of course).  300, Watchmen, Suckerpunch, Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman...his films have this look and feel to them and in most cases, epic-ness.  The shot with the helicopter with the sun as the backdrop, the upward shot of Dave Batista running across casino tables shooting or the over the "hotel" almost birds-eye shot of the Zombie Horde all gathered together, the colours and style, it all looks great.  I'm going to be honest, I'm not in it for the story, I'm not...but a bunch of guys who seem to be pulling off a Casino Heist in the middle of a, I guess Zombie Apocalypse...my first thought was, "Where are they going to spend the money?", but who really cares? It  really is whatever really as it looks really good.  Let's see another trailer, but I'm definitely in.

Directed By Zack Snyder and starring Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Tig Notaro, Huma Qureshi, Garret Dillahunt, Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Matthias Schweighöfer
