(trailer review) - The Acolyte

 

I think it goes without saying that the Star Wars franchise is in a state of flux. There have been some good movies which had no structure or plan to stabilise the franchise for great storytelling and the TV Shows have been the same. The TV shows have been small stories with particular characters where the story could have been fleshed out more with better execution. For example, I did not mind 'Ahsoka' although there were some small execution problems with it. 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' was exactly the same, but the execution was even worse and the storyline was fairly poor in comparison with some crazy antics, not to mention 'The Book of Boba Fett' which was borderline terrible for many reasons. I enjoyed it or I could say, I could see where they were going with it or wanted to do, but failed. Out of the TV shows, the 'Rogue One' prequel 'Andor' was great. 'The Mandolorian', is great (although some people have issues with it, issues I do not agree with). Season 7 of 'The Clone Wars' was good, the spin-off 'The Bad Batch' is also very good. The throughline problem with it all is the execution. Soo much lore and stories to mine but it is executed badly with no real foresight. So when a trailer for ALL of these shows looks great, especially this one, in the back of your mind in recent years, you can not help to start thinking, "but is this going to be any good?"

This trailer is good and it is great to see Carrie-Anne Moss, Trinity to all you Matrix lovers, doing a 'Force Push' and close-quarters combat. It is really good seeing her in scenes like this. This is only a teaser trailer, so there is not a storyline attached to the trailer as such, but we do understand that the Jedi are being killed off and it looks like it is going to be a murder mystery "detective" story with (maybe) Carrie-Anne investigating. The quality of the visuals looks great and seeing a vast number of Jedi drawing their lightsabres harkens back to 'Attack of the Clones' when all the Jedi were fighting in that arena. Hopefully, the show will dig deeper into the lore so we can understand what makes a lightsabre yellow or what type of Jedi use it. This is meant to be several years before 'A Phantom Menace', so hopefully we are very removed from any events from it. If this show ends up being, 'The Rise of Palpatine', I will be very upset, we do ot need that. Let's tell more stories not connected to The Skywalkers as Star Wars has a vast amount of lore and history it can go into to tell great stories.

Ok, the last one was, I guess, what they would call a TV Spot, so having this one confirmed as Trailer 2 makes a lot of sense, but damn is this trailer PACKED!!!

Whilst we are likely getting a little bit of the story now, Neo is reawoken in the Matrix but this time he remembers the previous Matrix and now he has to protect/save/help Trinity? Who knows at this point, but if there is something we CAN take away from this trailer as well as the movie when it comes out, is the cinematography.  This film looks amazing! Also frantic? Frenetic? This movie looks like it's carrying a lot of energy in a good way, but I'm just hoping it isn't all sounds, visuals and no story.  Oooh and Jessica Henwick is absolutely killing it!

(trailer review) - The Matrix: Resurrections

I loved the first Matrix films! Maybe not soo much the third one, although I loved the gravity of the story, but the execution kind of lost me. The second one was good and I loved all these new abilities Neo had but ultimately, it was a franchise that didn't finish off well.  However the last trailer had me hyped and then to now release this Déjà Vu trailer inter-cutting previous Matrix footage and movements, if you tell me you are not gassed (excited) about this trailer and the execution of it, there is something wrong with the Matrix and you need to be plugged back in. 

This trailer is just excellent for those who have and haven't seen the original Trilogy.  It harkens back to the old trilogy so if you haven't seen it, it should entice you to see it before this one.  And if you have seen it, it should excite you to watch this new one as the special effects have come a long way since the first few movies and with an optimistic view that this movie will be incredible (plugging ourselves back into The Matrix), this may actually spark another trilogy if it can musta a great storyline, there is a very high possibility we will enjoy...only if it sticks the landing...and I hope it does.  What an excellent way to "reboot" the franchise too...a glitch...in The Matrix.  Genius!

(trailer review) - The Matrix: Resurrections

WOW, just wow!!! I've watched this trailer several times and I'm just in awe of it, really.  The teaser trailer gave me all these thoughts about the Matrix Trilogy and what the film has done for cinema.  Watching this trailer, whilst it seems nothing have been revolutionised since because, well...The Matrix WAS the trendsetter for bullet-time from which they have incorporated it in other movies and even a top game called Max Payne among just a few, at this point, I don't care about the technology, but the story more so. Whilst a lot of people have not seen the original Matrix or the trilogy for that matter, this movie may bring people BACK to the trilogy and maybe back to the cinema to watch it this Christmas.

This trailer, visually is simply incredible. From the very beginning of it where the town just doesn't look real as it is too pristine, to the special effects of a police officer changing into an Agent. Updated, smoother and crisp. The action, wow! There are a few amazing shots in this trailer and the fighting/action just looks great. I can feel the tension, however...I'm hoping for something as great as Shang-Chi mixed with the original Matrix and some type of thriller. I'm just hoping, the franchise doesn't get any worse or even more diluted.

(trailer review) - The Matrix: Resurrections

So ummm, there has been a little talk recently in regards to The Matrix and John Wick coming out on the same day, both starring Keanu Reeves. Whilst I think by now, one of these movies has moved to another date, you can't help but think about what they are going to do with this series going forward after The Matrix: Revolutions back in 2003.

Whilst some people were merely born, just born or a glimmer of hope in a parent's eye back in 1999, The Matrix revolutionised film and whilst the sequels didn't get as much attention as the first in regards to where they were going with the story and as the movies went on, the quality got worse (I kinda liked them personally, but the two sequels were different from the first), it is definitely a wonder with Resurrections, what will happen with the story now? What will be different from before? Since we know the story if you have seen the original trilogy, is this essentially a soft reboot/sequel using the same actors? I mean this teaser trailer is great and all, very digital and computery, blah blah blah, but Thursday seems like March 31st 2028 at this rate!
