I am not the kind of person to go into a fight with a hatchet and the other person has a pistol, an automatic one at that. Can you imagine, this chapter in the John Wick movie franchise started with, a man (John Wick) not willing to sell his car to a random stranger! Said random stranger finds out where John lives, beats him up, kills his dog and steals his car. But little did the random stranger know, John used to be a professional assassin, is well known in the underground territories and circuits he operates in and his dying wife was the person who gave him the dog when she died. John is seeking revenge plain and simple. The story is soo simple but so effective and great! You just want more and more of this franchise.
This trailer for a start, the cracking song used, Nas' 'Got yourself a gun' and from that point, you see what the film has been known and loved for. Headshots in abundance, ways of killing people in ways deemed over the top, repetition in the way you will kill someone, fights anywhere and one-liners galore. Oh yeah, and everything is just so damn cool. That last shot with the car reminded me of the horse scene in the last movie. This trailer is just excellent and I cannot wait to see this movie, the spin-off Ballerina and The Continental. It cannot come out fast enough.

You know the expression "...opening up a can of worms", THIS entire franchise is exactly that. In case you are unaware with how this all began and the story soo far (I could be off as it has been a while, so spoilers if you have not seen any of the John Wick movies especially the first one). John Wick is minding his own business when a guy compliments his car and wants to buy it. After refusing, said car is stolen and John Wicks dog is killed. Not to go into how much the dog means to John but John is an ex-assassin and he seeks revenge on the person who killed his dog. That was Chapter 1. This is Chapter 4.
To say this film does exactly what it says on the tin is an understatement. This film is simply a revenge film which has spiralled soo out of control, we are on the fourth film and it looks epic. There are elements to this which are almost nonsensical, but the world they have built for this movie, is incredible. The close quarters fights. The close quarters fights that include guns. The raw and visceral attacks with any instrument. If this trailer did it for you and you have not seen the previous three movies, I suggest you watch it before this as they all tend to lead on from the one before it and it is soo so good!

Ok, the last one was, I guess, what they would call a TV Spot, so having this one confirmed as Trailer 2 makes a lot of sense, but damn is this trailer PACKED!!!
Whilst we are likely getting a little bit of the story now, Neo is reawoken in the Matrix but this time he remembers the previous Matrix and now he has to protect/save/help Trinity? Who knows at this point, but if there is something we CAN take away from this trailer as well as the movie when it comes out, is the cinematography. This film looks amazing! Also frantic? Frenetic? This movie looks like it's carrying a lot of energy in a good way, but I'm just hoping it isn't all sounds, visuals and no story. Oooh and Jessica Henwick is absolutely killing it!

I loved the first Matrix films! Maybe not soo much the third one, although I loved the gravity of the story, but the execution kind of lost me. The second one was good and I loved all these new abilities Neo had but ultimately, it was a franchise that didn't finish off well. However the last trailer had me hyped and then to now release this Déjà Vu trailer inter-cutting previous Matrix footage and movements, if you tell me you are not gassed (excited) about this trailer and the execution of it, there is something wrong with the Matrix and you need to be plugged back in.
This trailer is just excellent for those who have and haven't seen the original Trilogy. It harkens back to the old trilogy so if you haven't seen it, it should entice you to see it before this one. And if you have seen it, it should excite you to watch this new one as the special effects have come a long way since the first few movies and with an optimistic view that this movie will be incredible (plugging ourselves back into The Matrix), this may actually spark another trilogy if it can musta a great storyline, there is a very high possibility we will enjoy...only if it sticks the landing...and I hope it does. What an excellent way to "reboot" the franchise too...a glitch...in The Matrix. Genius!

WOW, just wow!!! I've watched this trailer several times and I'm just in awe of it, really. The teaser trailer gave me all these thoughts about the Matrix Trilogy and what the film has done for cinema. Watching this trailer, whilst it seems nothing have been revolutionised since because, well...The Matrix WAS the trendsetter for bullet-time from which they have incorporated it in other movies and even a top game called Max Payne among just a few, at this point, I don't care about the technology, but the story more so. Whilst a lot of people have not seen the original Matrix or the trilogy for that matter, this movie may bring people BACK to the trilogy and maybe back to the cinema to watch it this Christmas.
This trailer, visually is simply incredible. From the very beginning of it where the town just doesn't look real as it is too pristine, to the special effects of a police officer changing into an Agent. Updated, smoother and crisp. The action, wow! There are a few amazing shots in this trailer and the fighting/action just looks great. I can feel the tension, however...I'm hoping for something as great as Shang-Chi mixed with the original Matrix and some type of thriller. I'm just hoping, the franchise doesn't get any worse or even more diluted.

So ummm, there has been a little talk recently in regards to The Matrix and John Wick coming out on the same day, both starring Keanu Reeves. Whilst I think by now, one of these movies has moved to another date, you can't help but think about what they are going to do with this series going forward after The Matrix: Revolutions back in 2003.
Whilst some people were merely born, just born or a glimmer of hope in a parent's eye back in 1999, The Matrix revolutionised film and whilst the sequels didn't get as much attention as the first in regards to where they were going with the story and as the movies went on, the quality got worse (I kinda liked them personally, but the two sequels were different from the first), it is definitely a wonder with Resurrections, what will happen with the story now? What will be different from before? Since we know the story if you have seen the original trilogy, is this essentially a soft reboot/sequel using the same actors? I mean this teaser trailer is great and all, very digital and computery, blah blah blah, but Thursday seems like March 31st 2028 at this rate!

So in my last trailer review, I said "As I remember, Bill & Ted was a decent film (for my mind frame) at that time and if I remember correctly, I really liked Bogus Journey as I thought the Robot Bill & Ted was cool. As for this trailer, hmmm, I'm just not sure yet." Considering the link above didn't offer much than the actual trailer above, I can now say, this looks like it's going to be a real fun movie. Harkening back to my earlier statement having seen this trailer, this Trailer made me really smile.
The trailer showed Bill and Ted having been called again to save the world and it actually looks like their daughters (of whom are just like their fathers), will be in on the ride to help their fathers with the task. The couples therapy gag was funny, the end clip with the daughters in hell gag is funny, the visit to the future 'jacked up' selves in prison gag is funny and it seems it delivers warmth in a way that will be endearing and fun just like the first two movies. I actually want to see them now. Also, bringing back the telephone booth really made me smile. I'm sold. Just wondering how i'll be able to see this on September 1st.

I was going to start off with, "this has to be the wildest sequel of recent years", but as I started thinking about sequels to movies from back in the day, I remembered, there is a Top Gun movie sequel and a Dune sequel in the making. Anyway, chances are, like Top Gun, you may not have seen Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure or Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. You may not have seen the cartoon they did as well. As I remember, Bill & Ted was a decent film (for my mind frame) at that time and if I remember correctly, I really liked Bogus Journey as I thought the Robot Bill & Ted was cool. As for this trailer, hmmm, I'm just not sure yet.
The trailer, I'm not entirely sure what to make of it, but I did chuckle a few times. $2 Taco Night and the completely too ripped Bill & Ted from a different future, funny...but I'm hoping it is funnier. It looks like it will be crazy and possibly in the same vein as Bogus Journey and considering, I liked that one more when I was younger, there is a small possibility that I may like this one too, however I am definitely not convinced yet. But let's wait to see more trailers.

Chapter 3. Where this, now trilogy, should close the story
of John Wick and his quest for vengeance leaving him to live a life as a
retired hitman in the tranquillity he sees fit.It’s like, after every movie, you reminisce back to how we got
here.How did it all start? His dog was
murdered, he avenged it.His car was
stolen, he retrieved it.The only thing
John has a problem getting back, is his retirement, as finding his was back
into the underworld of, well…let’s call it, The Hitman Society has proved to
cause more harm than good.Well, more
dead bodies by The Babayagga, but we won’t get into that just yet.
In case I haven’t explained why I love these movies
properly, I’ll break it down. John Wick is just like an 80’s or 90’s film
where, titular hero, John Rambo? John McClane? John Matrix, even? Take on
hordes of enemies who are trying to kill him and he survives.It’s about suspending disbelief where some
elements of the movie may seem unrealistic, but you enjoy the ride anyway.The story might not be Oscar worthy, but you
enjoy the ride anyway.In most recent
years, there hasn’t been much movies, if any that recapture the glory decades
of such films.Some over the top
violence, one liners and such, other than the ones that are trying too
hard.Some may argue that the Fast and
Furious franchise is among them, but that’s family *he says in his best Vin
Diesel voice* and his name isn’t John, it’ Dominic.
The John Wick franchise is the 80’s and 90’s action movies,
compressed into an up-to-date, stylish romp with lots of imagination trying to
be as realistic as possible.If you can
watch a superhero movie which is largely based off of the comics, bar a handful,
then you can watch Mr. Wick escape certain death, repeatedly.I mean, John McClane wouldn’t Die Hard…well,
until they ruined the last one in 2012.Let’s see what the latest instalment will do, if they ever get to it…I
hope not, with that Year One premise.
Anyway, back to the movie…
John Wick is now excommunicado losing all access and privileges of the Hitman
Society with a huge 14 million bounty on his head after the events of the last
movie.He is literally a dead man
walking.The continental is off limits
as well as any friends or allies he once worked with as they are all included
in the worldwide broadcast and may want to collect the reward themselves.John must stay on the run, avoiding death,
literally at every corner to seek a meeting with The Elder, the person at the
head of the High Table to negotiate some sort of deal.
This movie does not disappoint from the previous movies and
if you have made it this far watching the previous two, you are already
enjoying the ride.I feel as though the
movies just get better and better as they give you nothing but fight scene
after fight scene after fight scene after brutal kills after fight scene after
more brutal kills after even more brutal kills, book fight, horse fight, bike
fight and if not, ALL kills ending with a headshot or two at the continental,
of all places!The action.The Visuals.The comedy.There are places to
nit-pick, if you must, but it doesn’t take away from the film as a whole,
because the film’s pacing does not slow down.Well, apart from the desert scene, but other than that, nearly every
scene is soo masterfully done, you may want to frame certain shots.I didn’t even mention the dog fight, di I?
if you were a fan of the previous movies, I don’t see you coming away from this
movie with negative thoughts as they simply expand on what came before and take
it that much more further.The director Chad Stahelski, has only made 3 movies and the previous two were John Wick movies, so he is definitely
on a roll.I’d say that, due to the
movie being a ‘Chapter 3’, is an absolute MUST that you see the first two
previous movies as they continue from one another and you might just be confused
otherwise, because the film expects you to have experienced the previous movies
and not even try to hold your hand with any narrative or exposition at all!
Go watch it if you are a John Wick fan! If not, watch it after you see the
first 2 at least.
Just when you thought the brilliant story had ended.Just when you thought The Babayaga came out
of the shadows to play and now playtime is over!Just when you thought the guy that everybody
is afraid of, was going to return to his life of solitude with his new dog!

The story picks up only four days after the events of John Wick, where after
seeking revenge for the murder of his cute dog, John hasn’t forgotten his
beloved and stolen 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, where he continues his rampage to
rescue it from a chop shop owned by Abram Tarasov (peter Stormare), brother of
Viggo and Uncle of Iosef.Having
retrieved his Mustang, john is later visited by Italian crime lord, Santino
D/Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio).Santino
forces John to honour the promise upon his marker and carry out one last job,
which is the only thing that will allow him to return to retirement life.But will john honour his word and carry out
the task and fulfil his marker or will he carry out his retirement life as
planned?
At this rate, John should change his home address if people
keep knocking on his door like girl scouts, right?I’m sure WE are ‘in agreement here!?’This movie is just what the first movie
ordered, nothing but fight scene after fight scene after fight scene after brutal
kills after fight scene after more brutal kills after even more brutal kills, a
splash of car chasing and debauchery and with the most, if not ALL kills ending
with a headshot or two in an art gallery and such.The last movie had an epic gun-fu fight in a
night club which went WITH the music.This movie! Sigh.There is a scene where two men are casually
stalking each other firing their guns at one another in a crowded street without
ANYONE noticing.There is a scene where
John throws a gun at a man’s head because he was out of bullets.I cannot express my joy and odd laughs you get
during this movie from somewhat, graphic violence or the absurdity of certain
situations and scenarios.
I feel like everything I said in my last review, this review
is basically that x2 and a gold star. Keanu Reeves is no longer Neo, his name
is John Wick.And if the director and
the people behind this movie, such as the writers and producers, continue to deliver
such a fun-filled romp of violence in this neo-noir action movie in the
continued style and finesse, visually, we will continue to want this until
Keanu is physically unable to do it anymore.I mean, he is 54 and kicking ass!
First of all, I do not open my door to anyone. Police, Jehovah's Witness, door-to-door sales (wo) men, Bailiffs, Aunt's, Uncle's, Stray Cats, ANYONE! If I'm not expecting you or you do not call before you arrive, do not expect to gain an answer or entry. With that said, had Keanu Reeves' s character ADOPTED one of my core principles, we would not have a film. So, onwards and upwards aye.
Evan Webber (Keanu Reeves) as an architect living happily with his wife and two children. With Both adults being the artistic type, Keanu requires some personal space so he can focus on a project he needs to complete and has the house to himself on Father's Day weekend. His wife Karen (Ignacia Allamand) is awaiting a delivery of a project she is working on but she takes the kids away on a family - planned beach trip whilst Evan can focus over the weekend. Once she is gone, That Night, the door knocks (Knock Knock) during heavy rain and two females was drenched at the door looking for help and assistance. Not wanting to leave them out in the pouring rain, Evan lets them in with the assist, but things go from pleasant to bad, to uncontrollable and worst as a sinister agenda agenda unfolds.
Seeing the credits roll and then reading the name Eli Roth, made this movie make a whole lot more sense. Not that it confusing but what Eli has a twisted sense of humor. Considering this film is a thriller, it does not take much to understand the debacle. Plus it is somewhat erotic.
Keanu to me was brilliant in this role. Somewhat different to what we have seen him in recent years of, he is a wooden actor, but he felt more fluid and relaxed in this film. I felt this way watching 'The Man of Tai Chi'. Brilliantly written, with not much of a plot or plot twist; this film does Exactly what it says on the tin. On a lonely night a man opens his door to two strangers and madness ensues. Keanu Seemed as though he what having fun and enjoyed making this film.
I loved the dialogue as it was very clever and smart. A lot of the scenes were simply crazy and I found the movie somewhat clever. Some really jaw dropping moments.
Watch it. Very funny, clever, frightening and somewhat disturbing but more comical than terrifying.
In film, sometimes the best stories are the ones that are the simpliest. I can't think of any to hand, but if push comes to shove and of late, maybe Mad Max: Fury Road. For the spectacle that it is, from what I understood from the story of that particular movie, Max is in a situation and he needs to get from point A to point B. Meets someone along the way who wants to go to point D and he's not too sure about them, but decides to travel with them to help them while they both desperately try to escape an ever engaging and relentless force chasing them.
John Wick, well, not quite like that but simple enough with even less moving parts to the story.
The general synopsis is, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is a retired family man. After his wife contracts a terminal illness and leaves John a dog to remember her by, John is soon confronted by Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen), the son of Viggo Tarasov, the head of the Russian crime syndicate in New York. He offers to buy John's car but John respectfully declines. Iosef then actively finds John, breaches his home, beats him up, kills the dog and takes the car. From that point on, John is forced to go back to his old ways and seek revenge for not only taking his car....but for killing his dog. You see this in the trailer and it really couldn't get any simpler. And who would have thought how exciting and entertaining that premise is?
It is difficult not to spoil this movie, well if it can actually be spoiled, because there isn't any twists and turns. There isn't anything too riveting or anything to really spoil, other than a man going on a mission to seek vengeance on a dead dog...I mean, it really is THAT linear and considering the circumstances, that dog WAS really cute. However this movie is executed (Get it?) very well and does exactly what it says on the tin with finesse. This movie also works very well with the lore and world it creates making you want to know more about this world and how it works. How the cogs turn and how vast it may expand.

I mean, I am missing one element from this movie which I will hold close to my chest as a spoiler, but it's nothing big at all, but kind of explains Keanu's character and provides a little effectiveness for this review, I guess.
In essence , you could look at this as a superhero movie or comic book movie although it is very grounded in reality, does come across as a graphic novel. This movie is written very, very well, especially if you like colours and style. If you like a simple revenge flick where 1 man takes on an army of people (almost like Judge Dredd in a Tower taking on many foes to get to the end boss), then this movie is definitely for you. Or Raid, did you watch Raid? Blimey!
He has been missing for a little bit, but he is now back. Well I say missing, but what was the last film you remember Keanu Reeves doing? I'll give you a moment. Right, for me it was Street Kings, a film I didn't get to see but if I have a moment today, I will try and watch that tonight.
Keanu Reeves is one of a few talented actors who people say he is wooden, but he is quite versatile in my opinion. No, not all of his films have been well received, but Keanu has a fan base who are loyal to him and for me, I would say this; If a Keanu film is out, I wouldn't care about it much, but I would be intrigued and want to watch it. I wouldn't go as far as saying that he is a great actor, but he is a very competent actor who does come across wooden, dry and even monotone and dreary, but the films he choose always seem to "suit" his personality.
47 Ronin to me was a good film, but was lacking a little. I'll go into that later.
Kai (Keanu Reeves) is a child without parents grown up in the woods in which he escapes and joins a group of Ronin. Constantly referred to as half-breed and treated differently to the citizens within the town, Kai is always kept as an outsider and plays a inevitable part in having everyone banished from their town while he gets placed into slavery. Kuranosuke Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), a Samurai from the Ronin seeks revenge for his banishment and seeks the help of the 46 Ronin with Kai being the 47th. Together they head back to their town to reclaim the land which was once theirs.
There isn't anything much more to the story (lacking), so this is it in a nutshell. Nothing special and very old school and traditional. However, where i said the film was good - visually, story, acting, pacing, everything, for me everything about the film was good although there was a few moments where I thought, "so what happened to that guy?", or "what is happening here?", but then my biggest fault with the film was the length of the film and the action. The film isn't about Keanu Reeves' character at all, he was just an helping hand or aid. The film was very generic and lacking. I felt a lot more could have been done with the film. Maybe the pacing was bad because they could have done soo much more with the story but it didn't offer anything more than what has already been done with a Japanese fantasy adventure. While I was satisfied when the film finished, I didn't leave thinking, "wow, great film" like after i viewed the Desolation of Smaug. I did feel incomplete thinking, maybe Keanu should have been able to do more with his character because from what his character could do, wasn't a lot. Maybe there should have been more fight scenes or epic battles. Maybe the story should have been fully fleshed out and made it bit more intricate other than being a simple and basic story. Maybe if there were a couple of unexpected twists in it, then yes, maybe this film would have been much better rather than just good.
I wouldn't rush to see this in the cinema, unless you like Keanu Reeves, but this film looks like the "better" film out of the two he has out for 2013, the other being, Man of Tai Chi.
