(trailer review) - John Wick: Chapter 4

(OFFICIAL TRAILER)

I am not the kind of person to go into a fight with a hatchet and the other person has a pistol, an automatic one at that. Can you imagine, this chapter in the John Wick movie franchise started with, a man (John Wick) not willing to sell his car to a random stranger! Said random stranger finds out where John lives, beats him up, kills his dog and steals his car. But little did the random stranger know, John used to be a professional assassin, is well known in the underground territories and circuits he operates in and his dying wife was the person who gave him the dog when she died. John is seeking revenge plain and simple. The story is soo simple but so effective and great! You just want more and more of this franchise.

This trailer for a start, the cracking song used, Nas' 'Got yourself a gun' and from that point, you see what the film has been known and loved for. Headshots in abundance, ways of killing people in ways deemed over the top, repetition in the way you will kill someone, fights anywhere and one-liners galore. Oh yeah, and everything is just so damn cool. That last shot with the car reminded me of the horse scene in the last movie. This trailer is just excellent and I cannot wait to see this movie, the spin-off Ballerina and The Continental. It cannot come out fast enough.

Directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Natalia Tena, Marko Zaror & Ian McShane

(trailer review) - Creed III

We are nearly there with the closer to the trilogy. Three movies starring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, the son of antagonist Apollo Creed from Rocky I & II. Ryan Coogler directed the first Creed movie and Steven Caple Jr. directed the second, but this third movie is Michael B. Jordan's director debut and this trailer looks a lot better than the last. Actually, let me take that back, this trailer had some juicy action shots and slow-motion I really enjoyed. Whilst the previous trailer for the movie was back in October of last year, it gave us the story and why this fight is going ahead, I feel this trailer gives us more of the emotion as to why the fight will need to go ahead.

This looks like Jonathan Majors is going to steal the show and every scene he is in. At this point, we know Adonis and his life, his wife and daughter, what he is doing and do we really care? Really? I guess to an extent we want to see how far he has come, what he is doing now and what the plan is, but it seems, the plan is to get punched in the face by his long-time friend who wants to pretty much take what he feels is owed to him. I loved a couple of the shots in this trailer and it could not just be me who noticed the little girl punching and thought of the future of the franchise going to Creed's daughter. This trailer is also nothing but chest pecs and abs, which is a demonstration of these actors' workout routines to get into real shape for this role. Let's just hope in the end, the film is just as good as those delts and traps!

Directed by Michael B. Jordan and starring Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu & Phylicia Rashad.

(trailer review) - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

(Official Trailer)

I am going, to be honest with you like I always am, but this trailer did not move the needle much for me. A lot of new scenes and imagery, but the previous trailer for me was soo much better. This trailer on the other hand was a lot funnier and I am hoping, the comedy in this third and final movie from director James Gunn is evenly levelled out with the sad and emotional themes in this movie. As I said in my last trailer reaction, the second movie seemed like everyone had a joke. How I have come to understand the characters is, Drax provides most of the laughs, but it is usually him first and foremost, followed by Peter Quill and Rocket. Now that Nebula (my favourite character) is part of the team, she also provides a little humour too, but if everyone is providing jokes, the tone and strength of the film get significantly reduced.

This trailer shows, what looks like, The High Evolutionary and a few flashbacks involving Rocket Raccoon and his possible backstory, but this trailer also seems to provide us with a lot of fake-outs. Dave Bautista is done with Guardians, but although he says a few things in this trailer, it does not seem like he will die, but there are shots of Rocket Raccoon, Peter Quill and all this talk about one last fight or being together, it does seem like a few of our loveable characters will not make it out and this will be a film that will confiscate tears from us all. I love this team and while people will forget how plucky they are, they are the team that took out the Avengers.  I am going to watch this movie anyway, I just wished the trailer was better than the last one for me. Those Adam Warlock shots did not do much.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Dave Bautista, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn & Chukwudi Iwuji

(trailer review) - The Flash

Yo! As I write this, I legit have tears streaming down my face. No, I am not crying, but would I call these joyful tears? Maybe. This trailer. This film. Ezra you absolute maniac Miller! How? What? Why? For those who do not know and are entirely unaware, Ezra, the lead star of this movie and the man who is playing Barry Allen aka The Flash, reprising his role from Justice League, has been in some hot water in recent years since the making and completion of this movie. It is tough to say if they will ever work again as an actor, let alone play The Flash again, but this movie looks phenomenal. Very action-heavy, very emotional and the cast, two Batmen and a Supergirl? I am in absolute shock-horror right now, I am hoping and praying for Ezra to find the help he needs and maybe, JUST maybe, when all things are back to a state of normalcy, perhaps someone will take a chance on them as they IS one of the best parts of Justice League (both versions) and they do come across as a very talented and gifted actor.

This trailer! Good lord! The different Flash suits, the different Batman suits, the Bat-Wing, the Bat-Cycle AND THE OLD-SCHOOL BATMOBILE!!! I think the scenes that really got me, were the General Zod moments and him coming to Earth and now it looks like the two Flashes are fighting with old-school Batman and possibly Supergirl to take him and his troops out. While Ezra seems to be playing two versions of Barry Allen, this trailer has definitely got me interested in something I really did not care for, until now. Plus that other Flash suit (the second time we see the Flash suit) also looks amazing. That original suit with barely any trimmings. Michael Keaton and his delivery of that iconic line, "...I am Batman". And is that Kara tumping OFF the face of Zod's general? She is brutal! Yeah, let this be as good as this trailer please WB, I believe we comic book movie watchers deserve something like this. Maybe, JUST maybe, if this film does well, we can get some kind of sequel and maybe this universe, however, it ends, we can have some of those older/other actors back, such as Henry, Ben and Gal, maybe even Dwayne.

Directed by Andy Muschietti and starring Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue & Michael Keaton

(trailer review) - Fast and Furious 10

How long is this movie? This trailer alone is 3 minutes and 43 seconds which leads me to believe this movie is 5 hours long. When I initially saw this trailer, I tweeted "Man, Fast X is a 4hr film...", I think I was being overly generous. Have you not seen this trailer? If you look closely, you will see the kitchen sink. My review for Fast and Furious 9 stated "There is only so far they can go and by this movie, surely they have peaked." but what is funny, this trailer looks like they have decided to not only go full circle with some tie-backs to previous movies, something they have done before, as well as Mission Impossible (another franchise I mentioned in the last review) but now I am intrigued to how they have done this and if ultimately it works story-wise.

This trailer does a lot of things but there are a few things it does right. The trailer brings back racing for pink slips which I feel has not happened for many years now. It has just been heist after heist, essentially.  While there are a few unbelievable stunts, the stoppie "bunny hop-ish" manoeuvre in an alleyway was simply one of the coolest things I've seen with a motorbike in ages. Seeing some old faces return was cool because you now know the speciality of some of these characters. The trailer is bonkers, then the post-trailer clip of two women fighting for whatever reason having just woken up on what looked like some kind of operating table. It reminded me of Face-Off, to be fair.

I want to say I am done with the franchise, but it's that action, it keeps pulling me back in. Like, surely that is a mid-air NOS move, right? It could only be that. At this rate, we are only accepting a specific level of absurdity, there is a fine balance this franchise needs to maintain, anything above that and it is a no thank you. Lastly, Dom's face looks a little weird in some scenes. Anyway, bring on a second trailer.
