(trailer review) - Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Here's something funny...when I reviewed the teaser trailer for this, I incorporated the newly released picture (I'm not sure why and won't do that again), but it was merely to save from doing multiple posts.  Several months later, a weekly show with almost weekly trailers have managed to give a single show nearing 6 posts or even more, like WandaVision or The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the irony.  Ha, I laugh at myself really... 

Talking about laughing at ones self and multiple posts, it would seem Eddie and his multiple personalities, well split personality, The Venom seem to be "managing" with one another.  Eddie looks pretty hungover and Venom seems to be making him breakfast in a very bad way which has led me to think (as I was writing this), maybe they are not getting on and they may actually split from one another.  Venom will go one way and Eddie will go another.  I don't think the Venom can survive for long periods outside of a hosts body so that might be a reason as to why Cletus Cassidy obtains a symbiote.  They only reunite because Cletus is an absolute maniac.  Maybe I am wrong altogether, but I am liking the trailer.  It seems very samey as the previous movie and it does introduce us to a couple of characters such as Naomie Harris' character, Shreek, so it would be interesting how this comes together in the end, but the "Yummy" at teh beginning made me laugh and the closing eating of heads comment.  It also seems as though Venom may actually be, again, the star like the last film as he was really funny. We will see, i'm down either way...especially if we have a broader connection to A Spider-Man or MCU.

Usually they would drop a Trailer the very next day when they do something like this, so, I'm guessing one is coming real soon.
In a bid not to do multiple posts on trailers because Hollywood like to drop 26 trailers before the movie is out and effectively, YOU'VE SEEN THE ENTIRE MOVIE! In Teaser trailers, I will add the follow up Trailer to the pre-existing post, then separated posts thereafter.

This trailer though doesn't do enough for me.  I love the fact that the wording is red or has a red highlight to it, I love that! I also like the sub-text "Let There Be Carnage" as it states exactly what the film will be about...Carnage.  Hopefully this IS the name of the movie and what they will go with.  I think the only thing I feel is missing, is...what they should have done, had the word "Venom" Morph into an "Axe", "Knife" or "Blade" (of some kind) in which Carnage usually changes his appendages into.
A reservation I have though, as Carnage it an absolute nutbar AND psychopathic killer, I'm concerned  (and have always been concerned) on how he would be portrayed especially if this movie is not Age appropriate for the things Carnage  girls known to do.  We shall see when the first trailer drops.

(film reviews) - Olympus Has Fallen

I read someone before that Olympus Has Fallen is this years Die Hard. Now for those who don't know me, I'm a fan of Bruce Willis. I LOVE DIE HARD MOVIES!!! And for those who know me would understand the puzzled/confused face I pulled. So, I'm sure you could understand that a comment like that would be Blaspheming on the whole Die Hard Movie Franchise especially as a Die Hard movie came out THIS YEAR!!!

But the comment was, well, not THAT far from the truth. I still dislike the comment, but after seeing this film after AGDTDH enable me to criticise where necessary.

First of all, the film starts Gerald Butler who I feel is a very decent actor. I do like him and ever since I saw him in 300, I thought, he is THAT guy. Going on to Law Abiding Citizen, he solidified that feeling. He plays a former US Army Ranger Mike Banning, who is the lead Secret Service Agent assigned to head the Presidential Detail for the President of the United States of America, Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart). However, due to a road accident costing the life of the First Lady, Margaret Asher (Ashley Judd) where Mike saves the president instead of her, for obvious reasons, Mike is then demoted as he triggers Ashley's memories of the accident and works in the Treasury Department, within eyeshot of White House.

On the day the South Korean Prime Minister Lee Tae-Woo (Keong Sim) attends a meeting at the White House, the White House becomes under attack by Guerilla Forces, overwhelm the White House and take it over. As this is happening, Mike sees this and makes his way towards the White House and enters through the front door. Yes, he enters through the front door.

Now there isn't really anything more to say as I'm sure you are aware by now that the white house is full of goons and Mike has to save the president and stop whatever the terrorist aim to carry out. It kind of reminds me of a game in the late 80's early 90's when your character enters a building and has to clear out all the goons running and gunning, jumping vertically of course. So with that said, you already know the outcome. Predictable, yet still entertaining.
The brutality in this film I feel, separates from the Die Hard movie franchise. It's kind of hard to say, but the Die Hard movies have lots of blood, grisly deaths, bullets, more bullets, explosions, more explosions and a guy in a white vest managing to take out hordes of goons in a white vest and escaping all manor of death situations. This film on the other hand is very similar, but lacks the creativity, the death escapes and the white vest. Not to say that this is a rubbish film, it's really good, but I guess we have seen all these before, right?
Mike is a no nonsense former US Army Ranger. He gets things done with precision. Very smart, understands the minds of terrorists and is somewhat disconnected with reality. However, with this said, he knows he is able to fulfil his duties as an ex Secret Service Agent and get the job done, so he proceeds.

Anyway, I'll draw this review to an end now. The direction, cinematography and story was all excellent. Even better as the film seems more relatable right now in this current climate, but I can't help but think that maybe something else could have happened to kind of make this film slightly different in delivery. Maybe I'm starting to get bored of these types of films and actually want the bad guys to win or pull off their schemes. I mean, at least we could have some crazy sequel where everything is desecrated with little odds but still triumph. Maybe this is what the world is missing in film, Terrorist who actually win in the end, but in the long run, get trampled on. Not that I will always cheer for terrorists, but if they actually won or carried out part/most of their plan, at least as an audience we would have expected it. Other than Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith with the bitter/sweet end, what other film has this kind of outcome. Anyway, watch this film and enjoy it for what it is. Superb acting from Morgan Freeman and Angela Bassett by the way.

(film review) - Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Have you seen the first Sherlock Holmes which came out a year ago starring Robert Downey, Jr & Jude Law? Did you read my review I did on the film? Sherlock Holmes? All I can say is that this film is missing a lot of things yet replacing with a whole lot more.

Before, I said Sherlock Holmes was batty with a sensitive nose and great eye for detail; nothing has changed.
In this film, Sherlock Holmes is caught in a game of mind games with his nemesis Professor Moriarty who seems to be 1 step ahead of Holmes in every single way possible and out whitting/smarting Holmes so that he can get away war profiteering. You'd think that with Sherlock Holmes being really intelligent and constantly "high" on opium, you'd think this would be impossible.

Without spoilling the film, I'd say that if you enjoyed the first film, you will definately enjoy the second as although there is no bare knuckle boxing, Robert Downey, Jr once again brings Sherlock Holmes to life and provides the batty, insane comedy in which IS Sherlock Holmes. As well as Robert BEING Ironman, he IS most definately Sherlock Holmes as he carries the character soo well and the relationship between himself and Watson are unparrelled in terms of working together. The brotherly love is there and believable and you can tell that the actors had fun doing this film.

Guy Ritchie once again injections his COOL into this film and you also get to see the pre-though calculations in which Sherlock Holmes does before he acts out a move/action. Even better, at then end of the film, showing how smart and calculative Professor Moriarty when they show his pre-thought process battling Sherlock Holmes. The Battle of Genius. Genius. Go see, it's very good. Infact, Great.
