(trailer review) - Scream 6

From memory, this has to be the only franchise where I have not seen it all the way through. I cannot remember if I have seen Scream 3, but I definitely did not see Scream 4 because I just was not interested. I went to see Scream 5 though, and for what it is worth, I enjoyed Scream 5 for what it was. There were some elements in the movie that made no sense whatsoever. But for the sake of the movie, "movie-ing" and the suspension of disbelief, I let small yet weighty plot holes slide. It was a nice return to the franchise and like I said, an entertaining watch. I went to see it I. 4DX too and that was fun. It added a different take on the experience as a whole.

This teaser trailer does not give us much but, is this based on a single day or week? Around Halloween maybe? Seeing all those people wearing the Ghost Face mask on the train is WILD! Already a no-brainer for the lore of the franchise I feel, because if there have been people committing murders in that mask for years, the mask should be banned, right? If I were to do the math, it would mean this town has sold this mask for however how many years and Although people have been dying by a killer in the mask, people are fine with the selling of it? Other than the people who notice the mask in the trailer, do you mean to tell me, NOBODY recognises that mask as doom and likely imminent death? Like, nobody? The mask is bait at this point but let me let the movie, movie. Maybe it is a different side of Town or a completely different city, fair enough...maybe, I don't know. The train scene we get to see here is a very chilling scene being surrounded by people with the ghost face mask on a train and the black girl got it first? I thought we were stopping all of that! I'll wait for the proper trailer...it looks ok.

Directed by Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and starring Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Mason Gooding, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Jenna Ortega, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, Samara Weaving, Hayden Panettiere & Courteney Cox

(trailer review) - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Before Spider-Man No Way Home came out, the best Spider-Man movie that Sony has ever put out in the history of Spider-Man movies had to be Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, hands down. Why? Because it embodied everything that Spider-Man was and had to be. What made it even better was the fact that, it wasn't even the traditional Peter Parker created 50+ years ago, but the newer more recently created Spider-Man created twodecades ago who is also NOT Peter Parker and is a black-latino child. That movie crammed soo much into it, but was told in a way that never felt over stuffed or confusing. We saw loads of Spider-Man villains and it never felt overcrowded. We saw various spider people and we never lost track of who the main star was. It was funny, witty, smart, charming, warm and emotional. The music was just as great as the art direction and what they did with the animation, how they used it. If anything, the film is a 10 out of 10, I mean it simply could not get any better. So, what about the sequel...

This looks great! While I thought seeing a few spider people come together was great, all with their own art style, did you see the Council or Hall of spider people? There was possibly 30-40 and you know there are hundreds more. You can already tell that this movie will be more layered than the first and I love the fact they have aged up the characters. Not like the Bart Simpson staying 12 forever, plus it gives you the passage of time. Time has passed since the last film, older, more mature maybe, more on his plate. Hearing the voice actors come back is great with the inclusion of Oscar Isaac. Seeing the talented Issa Rae as a Spider-Woman is also great...it will be interesting if she is a girl or woman as I think Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) is also an Avenger, I don't know how they will play that, but in the promotional art, one of my favourite characters (for reasons unknown), shows The Spot, a character who has dimensional portal spots on his costume he can use to commit crimes by travelling through them to move through time and space...I am so happy. This is just a teaser trailer but consider me teased and waiting patiently for the main trailer and then the movie. I have a feeling, this part one will knock it out of the park. Yes, part one, they said there is a sequel already in the works or maybe you can consider this as Infinity Gauntlet 1 & 2, is you remember that far back.

(trailer review) - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

I believe I grew out of Transformers early when I was young. ThunderCats, BraveStarr and such, were always my bag. I mean a robot that turns into a car, plane, gun or ghetto blaster boom box with cassettes that turn into birds. It's great! But Michael Bay took my childhood cartoons and ruined them. I have said in the past on here that Michael IS a capable director, but he just does things in a way that is, just...visually boombastic and very unnecessary. I think I even made a comparison to Zack Snyder at some point, but Zack is ALL style and more substance than Bay. If you have not seen Bumblebee, the last Transformers movie, that was great. It was a really good film that did not rely on slow-mo and plants exploding taking out city blocks, it was just a really decent movie. Stephen Caple Jr., Coming off the back of Creed II, I will definitely say, is a capable director from the branches of Ryan Coogler, but dealing with a big-budget movie like this is interesting and a sight to behold. With that said, this trailer looks GREAT!!!

So, I was never into the animal transformers at all so I know completely nothing about it, but doesn't this movie look beautiful! The robot versions of animals look magnificent, the way they move and manoeuvre. What looks like a cheeter, the bird (maybe a hawk), they look great! Is that Mirage or another autobot? I am definitely acting like I know more names than Prime, Megatron and Galvatron...oh and Hot Rod. Ok, Starscream, Soundwave and Rachet. It will be interesting to actually watch this and hopefully bring the franchise back to how it should be...maybe more like Bumblebee. Oh...and please have a Cybertron moment or something remotely close to it because that Cybertron moment in Bumblebee was soo good.

(trailer review) - Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

I am not going to lie to you, so I will say to you first and foremost, while I love Indiana Jones (from the only movie I have seen before watching 'The Crystal Skull', 'The Temple of Doom', having now seen two movies and the last one was garbage, I care not for this movie. I guess I would have a lot more love for the franchise if I had seen 'The Last Crusade' and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', but truth is, I do not, and Harrison is a little long in the tooth for an adventure, don't you think? Besides, it just makes you think? This has to be Harrison's last hurrah, right? What are they really doing with this franchise? Also, will a young Indy simply look like an old Indy in movement and antics? I just don't want to watch this movie and feel like I can clearly see a body double and/or that the moves and scenarios Indy finds himself in, an old Indy could not possibly carry out like he is an athletic spring chicken, you know.

But on a real, this trailer looks good. I can't knock it. The action looks great and although I can see quite a bit of CG used, the film looks like it tackles with time and we even see a younger Indy. Is this classic storytelling like 'Raiders' and 'Crusade', I am not sure, but it would be nice to have something better than 'The Crystal Skull' as Harrison's last hurrah, you know. Also, with that said, I hope the comedy injected is a lot like the classic Indy 'Temple of Doom' movie because, well I liked that and I thought it was great. The bit at the end of the trailer is funny. I loved that.

(trailer review) - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

We have come a long way since the beginning of the MCU. The storytelling and craftsmanship of the MCU go without saying at this point. One could argue that phase 4 has not been great and not a lot seems to make sense. While I do not prescribe to that exactly, I do feel some of the "funnier" storylines or more accurately, the comedy/jokes they have put into these movies have not been good. Without picking apart the MCU, I will simply refer to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. Although this was a great movie, everybody was given a joke. In the previous Guardians movie, it was simply just Drax who provided the audience with a laugh. In the second movie, it seemed like everyone had a joke and it kind of hampered the movie. This has been the case with a lot of MCU movies of late, so I am sure there is more than a handful of people who don't mind some silliness and jokes but not to be laughing all the time. I guess one argument is, they do this to balance out the heaviness of some of the themes, but...I don't know, some movies do it better than others. Thor: Ragnarok to Thor: Love and Thunder is an example of that.

The music in the trailer has me. The music in the Guardians movies has all been great so for this trailer, it is simply continuing a standard, but this music! It is possible that, due to learning that this will be the last movie with the current team lineup, the music just hits me differently as there are rumours that members of the team will die, like...die die. No coming back type of die. There will be stakes in this movie and the runners-up are Dave Batista as Drax the Destroyer and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. If done well, we will have some much-needed levity and humour, hopefully, provided by Drax and Mantis (I cannot be the only person who finds Mantis' background antics hilarious), but I do believe this movie will draw out the tears. We have spent some time with this loveable group and to see any of them actually die, I do believe will be heart-wrenching. That scream from Peter Quill in this trailer looks like real pain and loss. Deep breath guys. We can do this together.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Dave Bautista, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn & Chukwudi Iwuji

(film review) - The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

This is a movie that is set after the events of Endgame and before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. If you have seen Endgame, you will have an idea of where we are with the team and what their plans are going forward. With that said, it seems as though this movie is the bridge between Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and Volume 3 which is here to inform us, the audience, of particular events that have occurred between the last time we saw them to when we get to see them next without going into too much detail and drawing out the third film with explanations and such. And while this movie was far from needed, this extended prologue to the upcoming movie is great and maybe, everything I hope Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is.

The Holiday Special centers around the Christmas holidays and cheering up Star-lord aka Peter Quill who seems to be down around this time due to Gamora not being around. Both Mantis and Drax set out on a journey to Earth thinking they have the best idea to help bring a smile to Peter's face by bringing him a present from Earth, something he loved as a child, by hijinx ensue.

This is a short and delightful film. It explains a lot that has happened since Endgame and I can only assume, it lends a help-in-hand to not having to explain anything in Volume 3, but the film also helps to flesh out the characters of Drax and Mantis a lot more. As Mantis was introduced in Guardians Volume 2 and we also saw her in Avengers: Infinity War, we truly get to explore more of her character here and her dynamics with Drax.

Charming and funny. I loved watching this as I had a right ol' giggle at these characters. Drax should be one of the only people who will bring the jokes because Volume 2 seemed like everyone had a joke and that ruined the movie for me. I do lowkey think Mantis is by far one of the silent killer scene stealers who provides the most laughs. Introduced in Volume 2 and we get to see her in Infinity War, if you simply just watch her, she does things in the background which is hilarious. Her angry face when Star-lord says, "let's put on our angry faces", when she is creeping forward when the Guardians are creeping on Nowhere, on Titan bouncing around in zero gravity, she is absolutely hysterical. Drax on this occasion has evolved and he is a lot better. He is more of a team player and also funny, you know like he should be. Bautista owns this role so it would be a shame to see him go after Volume 3.

The prize for Quill is hilarious and while I am not sure of the actual mechanics of the MCU at this point, the gags are great and the film helps to provide a warming sensibility to it whilst telling a story about one person's experience of the festive holiday and the friends who come together to help cheer him up, endearing and sweet.

It goes without saying that the visuals are immaculate. The music, is even better. The intro music was terrific and the practical effects were also good. At this point, all the actors know who their characters are and the performances show this. This is definitely, a rewatch, but it would be very interesting to see what happens in Volume 3 because I have heard, this is the last time we will see this version of the team, together and with a new trailer for volume 3, which has to be dropping soon, I just love this team. They may seem incapable of anything, but let us just remember, they took out the Avengers swiftly in 'Infinity War' and that should definitely tell you something about the team's dynamics and poise.
