(trailer review) - Zack Snyder's Justice League: Director’s Cut

I'm going to try and not repeat what I said in August 2020 regarding this debacle.  You can read that here: Zack Snyder's Justice League Trailer.  But it is very much worth highlighting here or briefly mentioning that, this was an utter shambles when Warner Bros decided to try and switch gears to catch up with Marvel's success.  With no real plan or direction, you end up with the Josh Whedon directed movie which is both Zack's movie with Josh's touches and edits.  Apparently, Zack has never watched the Justice League because it isn't his movie and more power to him.  I liked it for the most part, it wasn't terrible.

A trailer dropped in August and was pulled a little while after due to copyright infringement on the music choice used.  Apparently it wasn't cleared.  I'm just hoping that such a simple thing, isn't another spanner or something that is going to plague Zack's vision and stop us (I say that loosely) watching it on HBO Max.  We don't have HBO Max in the UK, so I wonder how that will work, Netflix maybe?

So, Zack has decided to drop an updated trailer and I'm going to be real with you, I'm not sure if there is a difference from the one dropped in August.  It does seem like there are a few newer shots with more of Ray Fisher's Cyborg and his story, and some other clips which were likely left on the cutting room floor, but although I'm not a huge fan of how the trailer is pieced together,, I still think it's phenomenal, albeit, I just want to see it now.  And now hearing he is adding more scenes, this trailer really is to showcase the NEW editions that were added, which now makes me think, maybe he has seen the Josh Whedon version...lol.

Anyway, it's shaping up to be a different kind of movie in terms of feel and I'm all for Zack telling his story.  WB seem to be doing right by him at present. Oh and just before I forget...that quick shot of Cyborg commanding all those (I'm assuming nukes), in his varsity jacket, is totally a boss shot! Also, the black and white is cool, but I think I'd prefer colour.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, Ciarán Hinds

(trailer review) - IP Man: Kung Fu Master

When I first saw the name of this trailer, my initial response was, "another IP Man???" I possibly sighed in my head and then I decided to watch the trailer.  I'm definitely NOT interested in another IP Man movie.  I''m sure it went up to IP Man 4.  But from when Mike Tyson was in one of them, I lost all interest. 1 and 2 were good, but I didn't get a chance to see 3.

So I'm watching the trailer and I'm looking for Donnie Yen and I cannot see him.  I kept wondering as to why they were focusing on the new donnie (london slang for geezer) and I kept thinking, maybe he would show up later.  He didn't.  Then the trailer said something about "A New Vision of Bruce Lee's Legendary Mentor", is when the pin dropped.  They must be making bank to have another IP Man movie.

Although, I'm not interested.  Although this new donnie replacing the old Donnie Yen and for the fact it has a bunch of people in suits with Hatchet Axes (taking a leaf out of Kung Fu Hustle, I MIGHT be swayed into watching this, as I do like Martial Arts/Kung Fu movies.  It's just a little upsetting not seeing Donnie Yen in that role.

Directed by Liming Li and starring Yu-Hang To, Michael Wong, Wanliruo Xin

(trailer review) - X-Men: The Animated Series (1990's)

This is a slightly strange review because this is NOT a new show, however, it IS a new trailer!  Disney are labelling it the Unofficial Official Trailer.  Having grown up on various animated cartoons such as The Animaniacs, Reboot, He-Man, Galaxy High and even Gummy Bears, shows like Spider-Man and X-Men were at the very top of my to-watch list because it was comics and it was very cool.  I loved Reboot because that was computers and gaming, but Spider-Man and X-Men were a different beast altogether. Loved them!  I watched a lot of both series but slowly fell off the Spider-Man one when the X-Men and Ironman started to get invoved for reasons unknown.  With that said, I never watched any other Marvel related cartoons.

The trailer for the X-Men though is sooo damn Iconic, it is definitely a little strange to learn of and hear a totally different trailer that doesn't sing out like it's predecessor.  they've used different visuals and I can't put my finger on it, but at the beginning seems/feels more story driven centred around a singular character then the meat and potatoes of the trailer drops, rather than back in the 90's, a type of "flash card" of whom the characters are first and some fight scenes.

When I got Disney Plus "LATE!" because the entirety of Europe had to wait until March 2020 unlike our US cousin's whom received Disney Plus in November 2019 (poor marketing strategy if you ask me), I watched back-to-back 90's Spider-Man and back-to-back, 90's X-Men and I loved it.  Most episodes previously seen.  Still love me an Apocalypse monologue.  What wouldn't at all hurt, would be a redesign of these cartoons to todays graphical standards (possibly a voice recast where necessary) and a remake/retelling of the same stories beat for beat. Maybe perhaps continuing with a few more episodes thrown in for good measure.  I'm pretty sure fans will lap that up! I sure would.
